Electrify America to expand charging network by 30% in 2025

US charging provider Electrify America says demand for its chargers grew by 50% last year - and it now hopes to continue growing its network of 350 kW chargers across North America.

The company says that, after increasing its network during 2024, it now includes over 4,800 public chargers at more than 1,000 locations across North America. That includes 20 ‘Hyper-Fast’ chargers launched at its first indoor hub in San Francisco. Electrify America argues that it has contributed to the largest roll-out of 350kW chargers in both the US and Canada.

The company adds that it has witnessed corresponding growth in its customer base, delivering over 600 gigawatt-hours of energy in 2024. That is an increase of 65% from 2023. It also recorded more than 16 million charging sessions, which is a 50 per cent increase YoY.

Now, the charge point operator wants to expand its network by a further 30% in 2025, by prioritising larger charging stations with battery energy storage solutions (BESS) to help mitigate demand.

In a statement last year, Electrify America said it now has “the largest open Hyper-Fast charging network in the US.” Robert Barrosa, the company’s president and CEO, said at the time: “Our expertise in building over 250 stations in California and more than 900 in North America uniquely positions us to bring high-quality charging infrastructure directly into communities where people live and work and support EV adoption across the state.”

The company, which is a subsidiary of Volkswagen, also operates a number of Technology Campuses where it stress-tests equipment and hardware. The firm says it has completed more than 45,000+ of testing at these locations.

This is great news! During a recent trip I charged exclusively at EA, finding the chargers to be reliable. I do wish the stations included canopies to provide shelter from rain. It would also be nice to be near facilities

They need plug and charge. Since I got my Tesla adapter I haven't charged at EA once.

Would you mind putting one in Great Falls Montana? I'd like to go home without looping around the Rockies. Thanks.
