NaaS Technology and Xiaomi announce EV charging partnership
NaaS Technology is a US-listed charging provider which has installed 1.15 million charging points in China – roughly 35% of the country’s total public charging infrastructure. Following similar partnerships with BYD sub-brands such as NETA, IM Motors, Hongqi and FAW-Volkswagen, NaaS will now provide charging access to Xiaomi customers using the Xiaomi Auto App or their built in vehicle navigation system.
NaaS’ charging hubs use China’s Guobiao (GB/T) standard, which can be used for either AC or DC fast charging. The company claims it served over 13 million transaction users in Q3 of 2024, and will continue to grow its network.
“This strategic partnership with Xiaomi Auto marks another step forward in expanding NaaS’ charging network and enhancing user experience,” said Steven Sim, CFO of NaaS. “By combining NaaS’ AI-powered technology with Xiaomi, we aim to deliver seamless, efficient charging services that meet the needs of today’s NEV drivers.”
Xiaomi is undergoing a period of sustained growth since entering the Chinese market in 2024, with over 200,000 vehicles registered since April 2024. After greatly surpassing its 2024 sales targets, the company recently announced plans to increase its vehicle delivery target for this year from 300,000 to 350,000 EVs.
Xiaomi has recently signed a number of other partnerships to expand availability to the rest of the Chinese EV charging network. In January, it announced a partnership with Nio to give its customers access to around 14,000 chargers across China, as well as similar partnerships with Li Auto (6000 chargers) and Xpeng (over 9000).
