The partnership with Nio gives Xiaomi EV access to around 14,000 chargers in China, the latter announced on the Chinese social media website Weibo. The chargers can be found on Xiaomi EV’s charging map and started via the latter’s app. According to Xiaomi, users can also see dynamic data from the Nio chargers on the charging map, i.e., whether they are occupied or not.

According to CN EV Post, Nio operates 2,535 supercharging locations in China, comprising 11,693 charging stations. On top of that, it has 1,671 destination charging locations with a total of 13,020 charging stations. The charging network has always been open to third parties, but as the Chinese portal points out, “these kinds of partnerships help provide a better charging experience.”

Just 30 minutes after announcing the deal with Nio, Xiaomi posted on Weibo that it also signed an agreement with Xpeng. In this case, Xiamio EV has access to more than 9,000 charging piles in China, the latter said in the social media post. The partnership with Li Auto adds another 6,000 plus charging stations to Xiaomi EV’s charging map.

Xiaomi started handing over its first electric car, the SU7, to Chinese customers in April 2024. In November, CEO Lei Jun said the Chinese smartphone manufacturer would crack the 130,000 unit mark by the end of the year – which it apparently did. According to earlier figures, it delivered  67,157 units by the end of September 2024, and another 20,000 units in October. Then, mid-November, it cracked the 100,000 united mark.

Moreover, Xiaomi is looking to grow its portfolio. According to information leaked in September of last year, the company is planning a total of three new models between 2025 and 2026, one of them being the SU7 Ultra, which has already been presented. With the other two models, Xiaomi could venture into the SUV segment.
