As Verge Motorcycles points out, the record was not achieved on a test track or a laboratory, but in real live traffic. On 22 March, riders Sam Clarke and Sara Sloman took to the streets of London on a mass-produced Verge TS Pro.

The drivers took turns, swapping every hour or 90 minutes on the tour, so that everyone got a break once in a while. The whole record-breaking tour took about 16 hours. The route took them through the suburban areas within London’s M25 ring road, and passed through various parts of the city. Traffic conditions during the world record attempt were typical of a major city, with occasional traffic jams, traffic lights and zebra crossings, the company stated.

The motorbike’s journey was tracked with a professional and precise monitoring system and the battery was not charged during the journey. Webfleet, which specialises in vehicle management, collected data on the record performance.

Some technical details about the Verge TS Pro: The bike goes from zero to 100 kph in 3.5 seconds and offers 1,000 Nm of torque. Its motors sits in the wheel, while the battery is integrated into the motorcycle’s body. It has a range of up to 350 kilometres. The company does not provide any information on the size of the battery, but the battery should be able to be charged quickly in 35 minutes via CCS. The machine weighs 245 kilograms.
