Continental & Varta to develop 48-volt battery for bikes

Continental’s development and production service provider Continental Engineering Services (CES) is cooperating with the battery specialist Varta. In an initial pilot project, both partners have developed a replaceable 48-volt battery pack for electric two-wheelers with a drive power of 10 kW or more.

Austria considers combustion ban for 2030

In Austria, only zero-emission passenger cars, two-wheelers, light commercial vehicles and heavier commercial vehicles are to be newly registered by 2030 at the latest. This is one of the ‘Mobility Master Plan 2030’ measures now presented by Infrastructure Minister Leonore Gewessler. However, the plan is not binding.

India extends Fame II subsidy programme

The government of India is extending the second phase of the national eMobility subsidy programme FAME (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles), which started on 1 April 2019. FAME 2 was originally scheduled to run until the end of 2022 and has now been extended until 31 May 2024.

Just when we thought the recent glut of recalls was over, Harley-Davidson announced the recall of all 2020 LiveWire electric motorcycles produced between 23 September 2019 and 16 March 2020. Around 1% of these bikes appear to have a power loss issue related to the charging circuitry.
