Harley presents second LiveWire brand motorcycle

Harley-Davidson has presented the second model of its LiveWire electric motorbike brand. The LiveWire Del Mar is based on the new S2 Arrow platform and has an output of 60 kW. Interest seems to be high: a Launch Edition limited to 100 units was already sold out after a few minutes.

Italy to invest €650 million per year to lower emissions

The Italian government is allocating 650 million euros annually for 2022, 2023 and 2024 for incentives to purchase electrified and low-emission vehicles. Private individuals can receive a subsidy of 3,000 euros for the purchase of new electric cars. Small and medium-sized enterprises will also be supported.

Can-Am to become electric motorcycle manufacturer

Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) has announced that its Can-Am brand will return to its roots as a motorbike manufacturer with an all-electric model line. To mark the brand’s 50th anniversary, the company will launch newly developed electric-powered motorbikes.

South Korea to strike PHEVs from subsidy list

The South Korean government wants to remove hybrid cars from its list of environmentally friendly cars from 2025 or 2026. This would mean that owners of cars with hybrid drives would no longer enjoy tax benefits and purchase bonuses. Instead, electric two-wheelers are to be promoted in future.

The British brand Triumph Motorcycles has presented the prototype of an electric motorbike, the TE-1. The machine was developed in a joint project with Williams Advanced Engineering and the University of Warwick. Now the TE-1 is to be tested for six months.

The British government has again adjusted its electric car subsidy downwards. Both the subsidy rate and the price cap for eligible electric cars have been slightly reduced. There are also new subsidy rules for other electric vehicle types such as vans, motorbikes and mopeds.

The Italian manufacturer Energica will withdraw from MotoE after the 2022 season. It is not yet clear what will happen to the electric series from 2023.

India extends Fame II subsidy programme

The government of India is extending the second phase of the national eMobility subsidy programme FAME (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles), which started on 1 April 2019. FAME 2 was originally scheduled to run until the end of 2022 and has now been extended until 31 May 2024.
