UK lowers EV subsidies again

The British government has again adjusted its electric car subsidy downwards. Both the subsidy rate and the price cap for eligible electric cars have been slightly reduced. There are also new subsidy rules for other electric vehicle types such as vans, motorbikes and mopeds.

Vitesco brings out e-motors for two wheelers

The German automotive supplier Vitesco Technologies has just presented system solutions for 48-volt electric drives for two-wheelers for the first time at the Milan motorbike trade fair EICMA 2021. A demonstration model of a hybrid motorbike will also be on display.

Niu unveils electric scooters, bikes and motorbike at EICMA

Niu has presented a number of new models at the EICMA in Milan, including an electric scooter called MQi GT Evo that goes over 100 km/h and an urban electric motorcycle called RQi. For the first time, the Chinese manufacturer is also presenting micro-mobility products such as electric scooters and e-bikes at EICMA.

Zero presents new model year with improved batteries

The electric motorbike manufacturer Zero Motorcycles presents new battery technology, software updates to increase performance and the new Zero SR for the new 2022 model year. The electric motorbikes of the 2022 model series are available to order now and are to be delivered successively to all Zero dealers.

BP & Piaggio announce EV bike & trike cooperation

BP and the Italian scooter manufacturer Piaggio have signed a memorandum of understanding to promote electric mobility on two and three wheels in Asia and Europe. The plan is to develop charging stations and replaceable batteries, as well as various services related to batteries and vehicles.

MotoE loses exclusive electric motorcycle supplier

The MotoE electric motorcycle racing series, which has been part of the MotoGP supporting programme since 2019, is losing its exclusive motorbike supplier. The Italian manufacturer Energica will withdraw from MotoE after the 2022 season. It is not yet clear what will happen to the electric series from 2023.

Austria considers combustion ban for 2030

In Austria, only zero-emission passenger cars, two-wheelers, light commercial vehicles and heavier commercial vehicles are to be newly registered by 2030 at the latest. The government of India is extending the second phase of the national eMobility subsidy programme FAME (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles), which started on 1 April 2019. FAME 2 was originally scheduled to run until the end of 2022 and has now been extended until 31 May 2024.
