Rivian electrifies HelloFresh’s van fleet
HelloFresh, which sells home delivery meal kits, says it has reached a milestone of saving over 200 tonnes of carbon emissions thanks to the EVs. The electric portion of their fleet has travelled an estimated 250,000 miles since the start of the partnership. The majority of the vans are used for last-mile delivery, with HelloFresh transit hubs located close to major city centers across 14 markets.
The commercial vans in question are Rivian’s EDV-500 series. With a length of 6.3m, these are relatively compact vans designed predominantly for urban and short-range journeys. They’re single motor FWD with 405Nm torque. Rivian estimates a range of 259km. The vans use a 100kWh lithium battery pack with an AC charging rate of 11 kW and fast charging up to 100kW. The smaller variant has a payload of about 1.2 tonnes and 14m3 of cargo space. Prices start at $79,900.
The Delivery 500 also has a number of safety features including automatic emergency braking, 360-degree visibility, and collision warnings. It’s based on Rivian’s in-house software stack that handles fleet management as well as supporting maintenance.
Tom Solomon, VP of B2B Growth & Business Development at Rivian, said: “We’re delighted that HelloFresh has joined us on our mission to cut emissions and protect our environment. HelloFresh delivers to millions of customers in the US, so by adding more electric vehicles to its fleet, it has not only helped reduce their carbon output but has improved air quality in cities across the US.”
Rivian only opened its order books for vans in the US back in February 2025. Previously, it exclusively produced the vans for Amazon between 2019 and 2023, but began testing its EDV with other commercial fleets in 2024. Amazon remains one of the company’s major investors, retaining a 16 per cent stake in Rivian.
