Allego continues to restructure executive board
The new Chief Operating Officer, Christian Zeh, is joining Allego from Ionity, so he is already highly familiar with the European HPC market. Before joining Ionity in 2017, he worked for Tesla for four years, helping to build the Supercharger network in Europe. Zeh is also well-acquainted with the AC world, which is equally important for Allego: as part of E.ON’s in-house consultancy, he contributed to the company’s first AC charging solutions. Therefore, the statement from his new employer, claiming that Zeh “has more than 15 years of experience in the energy and e-mobility sector,” is entirely accurate.
The new Chief Marketing Officer, Jean Gadrat, is also familiar with the e-mobility world, though not for as long. Since 2021, Gadrat has been responsible for the development of over 200 HPCs at Carrefour locations as CEO of EV Cars. Through strategic partnerships, such as with Uber, he is said to have “significantly” increased the utilisation of these charging stations. Prior to this, the native Frenchman had worked for many years in the mobility industry, not just in Europe. He was active for the Vinci Group in Paris and Madrid, and later in Brazil. In 2018, Gadrat founded Indigo Weel, a provider of e-bike and e-scooter solutions, raising over 20 million euros in investor funding.
“Christian’s extensive knowledge and experience in the European charging infrastructure sector will be invaluable to Allego as it continues its exciting growth trajectory, providing real strength to our operational execution capabilities,” says Steven Salo, CEO of Allego. “Similarly, Jean’s significant marketing expertise will complement Allego in connecting and interacting with EV drivers across Europe and further support Allego’s mission to accelerate the transition to sustainable mobility.”
Salo, for his part, has only been Chief Executive Officer of the fast-charging network operator since the end of February. At that time, he immediately replaced the long-serving CEO, Mathieu Bonnet, who had led the company since 2019. No further details were provided regarding the change. However, as the former CFO, Salo was an internal solution, although his background is more in finance than in energy.
