At the core of the IDC480E-C is a 40 kW power module with an efficiency of over 97 per cent. According to Sungrow, the scalable architecture makes it easy to add power modules or customise dispenser configurations. Customers can configure output capacities of 240 kW, 320 kW, 360 kW, 400 kW and 480 kW. Sungrow lists logistics companies or public charging operators as potential buyers.

Sungrow already has a fast-charging system with up to 480 kW on the market under the name IDC480E, which is used at the ‘Backcharge Heavy’ charging park in Germany, for example. The voltage range for this system is 200 to 1,000 volts, and dynamic power distribution is possible in 30 kW increments. However, the power modules are not housed in the charging stations themselves, but in an external cabinet. The efficiency is said to be up to 96.5 per cent.

The new charging stations feature a planned lifespan of over 10 years, due to their IP65 protection and C5 anti-corrosion technology, as well as Sungrow’s isolated air-cooling technology. For high-turnover locations, Sungrow also mentions optional dispenser configurations, which include up to four connectors with an extra Air-Cooled dispenser and up to three connectors with an extra Liquid-Cooled dispenser.

“The IDC480E-C represents a significant milestone in our journey towards a greener and interconnected future. Its modular scalability, smart charging flexibility, high efficiency and low maintenance requirements are designed to meet the evolving needs of our customers and support the rapid growth of EV infrastructure across Europe,” explained Robert von Wahl, Director EV Charging Europe at Sungrow.
