TATA.ev opens India’s first 10 MegaChargers
TATA.ev is TATA Motors’ largest 4-wheel EV manufacturer and responsible for the company’s Indian operations. The company is currently expanding charging infrastructure across the country at a rapid pace, with the MegaCharger network being part of these efforts.
The MegaChargers themselves offer a minimum of 120kW DC charging to users, although the company’s flagship MegaCharger in Vadodara pushes 400kW and is capable of providing simultaneous charging for up to 6 vehicles. Owners of TATA vehicles get up to 25 per cent discount on tariffs at the chargers.
The 10 new chargers are mostly located on highways, namely routes from Mumbai to Ahmedabad, Delhi to Jaipur, Pune to Nashik, and Bengaluru and Udaipur cities. Most of the locations feature rest stops with WiFi and food outlets.
Balaje Rajan, Chief Strategy Officer of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Passenger Electric Mobility, said: “These first 10 TATA.ev MegaCharger sites in key EV corridors of the country are the first tranche of a superfast charging network that we will have across major highways. The TATA.ev MegaCharger network will increasingly connect all major cities across India to remove charging anxiety. We are on a mission to provide fast, reliable and effortless charging that enables seamless mobility across the country – and we are just getting started.”
Some of the new chargers are co-branded with TATA.ev partners including Statiq and ChargeZone. On top of this, TATA.ev operates an ‘open collaboration’ framework with other charge point operators and oil marketing companies to widen access to charging across the country.
