Envgo will premiere the NV1 on May 31st in Bracebridge, Canada, following a demonstration in Toronto Harbour. It’s built for a top speed of up to 43 knots with a cruising speed of 40.7km/h. Other specifications revealed by a data sheet include a battery capacity of 80kWh, DC fast charging, and continuous and peak poewr of 125kW and 245kW respectively thanks to two electric motors. It’s 8.3m long and can carry six passengers including the pilot.

The hydrofoil technology plays a key role in the performance of this electric speedboat. Hydrofoils lift its carbon fiber hull slightly above the surface of the water to reach cruising speed, with the lack of water resistance significantly reducing energy consumption. The potential range from a single charge then increases accordingly.

Envgo states that the NV1 is primarily designed for pleasure trips or as a towing vehicle for water skiing. It features a cockpit with a touchscreen console as well as a 360-degree panoramic view system. It also features a number of autonomous components to aid navigation and collision avoidance. Notably, the NV1 was also designed in collaboration with acclaimed yacht designer David Weiss of Designova.

Those interested in preordering can now do so for $1000 USD, although the delivery date of the NV1 is still TBC. Production is scheduled for the second half of 2025, so it could be by the end of the year if not early next year – but this is not confirmed.

Envgo’s entry to the market marks an intensification of competition in the electric hydrofoil sector. Up until recently, Swedish company Candela’s USP was that it was one of the only players offering a watercraft based on this technology. However, other challengers including Vessev are diversifying this space, albeit with varying focus on using the vessels for recreation as well as public transportation.
