Circle K opens first dedicated charging hub in Europe
The charging hub, which is located in the Gårda neighbourhood, is the first Scandinavian Circle K station to open without the presence of fossil fuels. It features a 100 m² convenience store and is located on the Swedish E6 motorway.
On site, Kempower has installed a charging system consisting of two 600 kW Kempower Power Units which are used to dynamically distribute power between ten individual Kempower Single Satellite outlets, each capable of delivering up to 400kW of charge. That means ten vehicles can be charged from 0 to 80 per cent in roughly 15 minutes while customers use the store. Additionally, the new site features an “improved version” of Kempower’s autocharge function, which enables users to register their vehicle so that they simply have to insert the charger for the transaction to go through.
The opening of the Gothenburg site follows the launch of Circle K’s largest EV charging hub in Järna, Sweden. That features 20 HPC points for electric cars and six for electric trucks. Overall, Circle K’s European charging network now features more than 3000 charging points in total, with the company operating 17000 traditional petrol stations worldwide.
