Sodium-ion batteries are moving forward. In Sweden, Altris has announced its first industrial-scale cathode material production facility. Over in the USA, a project for the production of sodium-ion batteries is also becoming concrete with the collaboration of Natron Energy and Clarios.

Porsche Taycan rounds up its records

The all-electric Porsche Taycan has set another Guinness World Record, this time for the most consecutive doughnuts (spins) in an electric car on ice. Stunt driver Terry Grant managed 69 doughnuts in a row in Sweden in a production Porsche Taycan 4 Cross Turismo with winter tires.

Rimac completes winter tests for the Nevera

Rimac Automobili has completed the final winter tests with the production version of the Nevera ahead of the first customer deliveries. The electric hypercar has already passed registration tests in the US and EU and is scheduled for delivery to customers around the world in the coming months.

Northvolt to build second battery factory in Sweden

Northvolt plans to convert a closed Stora Enso paper mill in Sweden into a gigafactory to produce up to 100 GWh of cathode material as well as battery cells. The two companies have signed a letter of intent that calls for Northvolt to purchase the Kvarnsveden Mill in Borlänge, Sweden, and the surrounding industrial area.

Batteries are now being produced at Northvolt

Northvolt has started up its Ett factory in Skellefteå, Sweden, with the production of the first battery cell. Northvolt says the first prismatic cell was manufactured there on 28 December. The first deliveries to customers are scheduled for 2022.
