The all-electric C16 adopts an 800V platform. The base battery-electric version now comes with a 74.9 kWh LFP battery (previously 67.7 kWh), providing a CLTC range of 580 km. The top all-electric variant features an 81.9 kWh LFP battery for a 630 km CLTC range. All BEV variants use a rear-mounted electric motor with a peak output of 220 kW (295 hp).

The EREV version of the C16 includes a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated generator with a 70 kW output, supporting two battery options: 28.4 kWh and 38.7 kWh. These configurations offer a pure electric CLTC range between 200 and 280 km. The EREV motor delivers a maximum output of 170 kW (228 hp) on the rear axle.

In terms of hardware, the 2026 C16 uses the Snapdragon 8295 system-on-chip, while selected variants feature LiDAR supported by a Qualcomm 8650 processor with a computing power of up to 100 TOPS. According to Chinese media, the vehicle is equipped with 5 mm-wave radars, twelve cameras, and twelve parking sensors for advanced driver assistance.

The electric SUV retains its core design elements from the earlier version launched last year, including a minimalist front end with a slim LED light strip, retractable door handles, and a pronounced front intake. The dimensions also remain unchanged at 4,9m in length, 1,9m in width, and 1,8m in height, with a wheelbase of 2,8m.

Interior updates include the above-mentioned two seating configurations: a six-seat layout (2+2+2) and a five-seat layout (2+3). The five-seat variant features ventilation, heating, and massage functions for four of the seats. It also increases luggage capacity to a maximum of 1,663 litres with the second row folded down. Both versions include an 8.1-litre refrigerator with heating functionality.

The updated C16 also offers 70 technical and functional upgrades. With prices starting at 151,800 yuan (approx. €18,400), the updated model is slightly more affordable than its predecessor. As previously announced, the electric SUV will also be sold in Europe at a later date. Leapmotor had previously only mentioned the six-seat option, so it remains to be seen whether the five-set variant will also be available in Europe.
