Porsche opens Charging Lounge in Switzerland

After launching five locations in Germany and one in Austria, Porsche has now commissioned its first Charging Lounge in Switzerland. The site in Signy-Avenex near Nyon offers a total of six DC charging stations, each delivering up to 400 kW of power.

Porsche opened its first Charging Lounge in summer 2023 in Bingen am Rhein, Germany. It later added further locations in Estenfeld near Würzburg, Koblach in Austria, Leonberg, Ingolstadt, and a site next to the “Porsche Approved Service Centre” (PASZ) in Hamburg-Rahlstedt. Now, Porsche has launched another location not far from Lake Geneva, close to the A1 motorway connecting Lausanne and Geneva.

According to the company, this expands its coverage to the metropolitan area in Romandy and appeals to travellers driving between Germany and France or vice versa. The rapid charging station marks the Stuttgart brand’s seventh proprietary location – and its first in Switzerland.

In Signy-Avenex, Canton of Vaud, six high-power charging stations are now available exclusively for Porsche models, operating 24/7 with up to 400 kW each. While customers with older Taycan models and the new Macan would have been fine with 300 kW (since their cars charge at a maximum of 270 kW), this no longer applies to the revised Taycan. The facelift model now supports peak charging rates of up to 320 kW. “A current-generation Taycan, for example, can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent state of charge (SoC) in 18 minutes,” Porsche states.

Drivers can see the Porsche Charging Lounge locations via Porsche Communication Management (PCM) and the My Porsche app. The charging costs are centrally billed through the Porsche Charging Service at 0.39 CHF/kWh, with ad-hoc charging also possible if required.

Additionally, Porsche has secured GoFast as another partner for its Charging Service in Switzerland. After all, charging stops remain in high demand throughout the Alpine nation. According to Porsche, its charging service now grants access to over 900,000 charging points across Europe through partner agreements, including nearly 75,000 high-power chargers delivering over 150 kW.

With its seven Lounges across the DACH region, Porsche aims to provide its customers with an especially exclusive charging experience. Amenities include seating niches with integrated outdoor speakers, lounge chairs and refreshments indoors. Both exterior and interior areas are monitored around the clock. Access to the chargers and lounge is granted via a dedicated Porsche ID.

While the previous Lounges share a uniform design – including the Swiss site with its typical Porsche styling – the Signy-Avenex facility follows a new modular concept recently introduced by Porsche. This approach allows the Lounges to adapt to different site layouts and be built more quickly on location. Porsche developed this modular concept in collaboration with Studio F.A. Porsche.
