Porsche cooperating with Hubject for digital charging

Porsche is kicking off a digital EV charging service, that can even be used by drivers of EVs and PHEVs by other manufacturers. Currently, the service is bundled with Hubject’s roaming network. Other options and international roll-out are currently being tested as well.

New Porsche Cayenne PHEV with stronger electric drive

Porsche has released the latest Cayenne E-Hybrid, that can be ordered with immediate effect. Whilst the engine is only slightly stronger than in the predecessor, the Cayenne S E-Hybrid, Porsche has reengineered the entire hybrid system so now the electric drive delivers 43% more power.

FIA confirms Porsche and Mercedes entry into Formula E

FIA has given the green light for Porsche and Mercedes to enter the electric racing series as the governing body accepted their applications to produce powertrains for the Formula E. They will start in season 6, while BMW is in for season 5 and just showed off their racer in action.

New player on e-van market: The electric truck business is brewing in Europe and SAIC decided to add its Maxus EV80 to the mix. Distribution will be handled by SAIC Mobility Europe that asked Maske Fleet to offer the electric transporter to corporate clients in Germany and Austria. China’s EV quota comes in 2019: Now it is official – China will impose new sales targets for EVs and HEVs by 2019, one year later than originally planned. But the quota level starts then straightaway with 10 percent, rising to 12 percent by 2020. Thus, the government simply removes the 8 percent quota for 2018, but otherwise sticks to its earlier plans. The new rule applies to carmakers that manufacture more than 30,000 traditional vehicles annually. Those who do not reach the 10 percent sales of so called new-energy vehicles must buy credits or face fines.

Audi to build EVs worldwide: The VW-owned carmaker wants to expand EV production to all of its factories, according to CEO Rupert Stadler. In future, electric cars won’t just roll off the lines in Brussels, Neckarsulm and Audi’s headquarters in Ingolstadt, but also in Hungary and Mexico. The Germans intend to roll out more than 20 electrified cars before 2025, among them a dozen powered by a battery only. The company’s first two mass-produced EVs – the e-tron EV and the e-tron Sportback – will be manufactured in Brussels by 2018 respectively by 2019.

Porsche extends its PHEV range, adding the Panamera Sport Turismo Turbo S E-Hybrid to its line-up. The new model version couples a 4.0-litre V8 engine with an electric motor, reaching a system output of 500 kW. In full EV mode, the car manages up to 140 km/h and a distance of 49 km. However, with its combined hybrid power it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 310 km/h. Porsche says it just opened its order books. In Germany, pricing of the Panamera Sport Turismo Turbo S E-Hybrid will start from 188.592 euros.

First production EV by Mini: BMW’s small car subsidiary reveals the design of its premier production electric car, which is to debut at the IAA. The Mini Electric Concept does in fact look just like a conventional Mini, apart from some small details. While the brand has not specified any technology, it is likely that the BMW i3 system will also power the electric Mini, so output would be at 130 kW with a 94 Ah battery that lasts for about 300 kilometres.
