Latest BP Pulse hub opens in Los Angeles
The LAX hub features a combination of 400kW and 150kW DC chargers with both CCS and NACS connectors. The charging bays themselves are situated alongside facilities such as a waiting room, vending machines, and bathrooms. BP Pulse states that free Wi-Fi will also soon be made available to users of the charging hub.
Notably, the new LAX hub has been opened in partnership with the car rental firm Hertz, with which BP has an agreement to open charging hubs near airports and other high-traffic areas nearby to Hertz rental locations. A similar hub also opened in June three miles from San Francisco International Airport, and in April, BP Pulse also opened a charging hub near to Boston Logan Airport.
The construction of the new LAX hub was supported by a $2 million grant from the California Energy Commission (CEC), with BP Pulse stating it is designed to support ride-hail drivers, rental car customers, plus local EV owners.
Sujay Sharma, the CEO of BP Pulse Americas, commented: “Our new hub near LAX is another example of how we’re bringing fast, reliable charging to our customers when and where they need it, alongside convenient amenities. We’re committed to expanding our charging network to more metro and airport locations like this one to support EV drivers and ride-hailing fleets in a simple, reliable and cost-effective way.”
Daria Holbrook, EVP Mobility at Hertz, added: “With EVs often the preferred choice for our rideshare drivers, charging infrastructure like the new bp pulse hub near LAX is essential to supporting their daily operations. This prime location near the airport combined with ultrafast charging capabilities will help drivers stay powered up and on the road, supporting one of the nation’s busiest transportation hubs.”
