The 10-meter-long e-ATA buses are expected to be delivered in 2026, and will serve public transport routes. Both cities have signed contracts for 21 e-ATA buses each. It means the city of Chitila will have a total of 44 Karsan EVs in operation and Focșani will have 47.

The e-ATA 10 itself is an M3-category low floor electric bus with a max 250kW electric powertrain and a range of up to 350km. They feature an LFP battery with up to 396kWh capacity and a charging time of up to 2 hours 45 min using a plug-in DC charger. There’s also a max speed of 80 km/h and capacity for up to 79 passengers.

Karsan, which is based in Bursa, Turkey, says it is ‘ranked second’ in Romanian electric public transport and serves over 40 cities in the country. Its local distributor, AAR (Anadolu Automobile Rom), plays a key role in providing cities and local authorities with Karsan buses.

Karsan CEO Okan Baş commented: “We have already taken the first steps of the electric public transportation transformation in the cities of Chitila and Focşani in Romania together. Karsan had previously delivered the electric buses in these two cities. Today, we are delighted to be signing new contracts as a sign of the satisfaction created by our successful projects. The interest in and high satisfaction with our vehicles paves the way for new agreements. As of today, 380 of our electric vehicles are in service in public transportation throughout Romania. As Karsan, we will continue to grow by strengthening our presence in Romania.”
