Ree Automotive announces robotic assembly lines for Coventry plant

The Israeli company Ree Automotive plans to implement cloud-based robot assembly lines at its integration centre in Coventry, UK. The initial focus will be on the P7 modular platform for commercial vehicles such as trucks and buses, with the first assembly line expected to go live in the second half of 2022.

Amsterdam goes for another 84 VDL electric buses

Amsterdam’s public transport operator GVB has ordered another 84 electric buses from VDL Bus & Coach. The 84 new generation VDL Citeas will be in put into service from 2023 onwards. The framework agreement also includes an option for a further 130 VDL Citeas.

EMT Madrid places bus order with Solaris & Irizar

The public transport operator EMT Madrid has placed orders for 150 more electric standard buses. The Spanish manufacturer Irizar with 90 units of the 12-metre iebus and the Polish manufacturer Solaris with 60 Urbino 12 Electric are the winners of EMT’s largest electric tender to date.

Forsee Power opens battery assembly in France

French battery manufacturer Forsee Power has opened its production site in Poitiers. The Poitiers plant has five assembly lines for e-bus batteries with a production capacity of 1 GWh, equivalent to more than 2,500 bus batteries per year.

McGill’s places follow-up order with Yutong

Proterra to improve battery capacity on the ZX5 bus

US electric bus manufacturer Proterra has announced increased battery capacity for its ZX5 battery-electric transit bus. Starting next year, the 40-foot (12.2-metre) version of the Proterra ZX5 can be equipped with up to 738 kWh of battery capacity.

MAN takes order for 53 electric buses in Hamburg

MAN Truck & Bus has just received two orders from Hamburg for a total of 53 electric buses. Hamburger Hochbahn has ordered 17 Lion’s City 18 E, while an order from Verkehrsbetriebe Hamburg-Holstein (VHH) includes 30 electric solo and six articulated buses. The first electric buses are to be delivered this year.

BYD set to provide Hungary with 48 electric buses

Tender for 83 electric buses in Barcelona

In Spain, Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB), the public transport operator in the Barcelona metropolitan region, has launched the tender process for the procurement of up to 83 additional electric buses including charging infrastructure.
