BYD presents mobile charging station for electric buses

China’s leading bus maker BYD and their British partner Alexander Dennis Limited (ADL) presented a new version of their Enviro200EV electric bus at the Euro Bus Expo in Birmingham. The 10 metre electric vehicle features an extra space big enough to fit a wheelchair but also a mobile charging station.

Five German cities to order 3,000 electric buses

At least 3,000 electric buses is what the five biggest cities in Germany want running on their roads by 2030, according to a new survey from Wirtschaftswoche. After Berlin, Hamburg and Cologne had announced their move, Frankfurt and Munich followed.

Taiwan opens first fully electric bus line

The city of Taipei has opened it’s first fully electrified bus line. On the 31.5 km stretch a total of 12 electric buses will begin ferrying passengers. The buses are fitted with motors from Danfoss Editron, but these 12 are just the beginning.

BYD, ST and Yutong share Singapore e-bus order

Singapore has contracted the three companies with an order for a total of 60 e-buses, which will be delivered in 2019 and 2020. The contracts went to BYD, ST Engineering and Yutong-NARI. At the same time, the SP Group (Singapore Power) has announced their plan to build 1,000 charging points in the city-state.

Denmark aiming for decarbonisation of transport

The Danish government presented a new climate action plan with 38 measures, among them the previously leaked ban on the sales of all ICEs by 2030 and hybrid cars by 2035. In addition, the Danes will electrify their entire taxi and bus fleet by 2030 and are ready to spend millions.

Ballard Power Systems are currently displaying their next-generation hydrogen solution for heavy duty vehicles at the IAA Commercial Vehicles. Their new liquid-cooled fuel cell stack FCgen-LCS has been improved in general and will power anything from buses over trains to forklifts from 2019.

Kazakhstan: Eurabus opens electric bus facility

Electric busmaker Eurabus has opened their factory in Kazakhstan as planned. The Berlin-based company wants to assemble their first 100 modular e-buses there within this year before ramping up to 500 units in 2019. Most will sell locally.

Electric bendy-buses coming to Copenhagen

Arriva Danmark has turned to VDL to order 21 electric buses. Model Citea SLFA-180 Electric is the first articulated e-bus ever to arrive in Denmark and will serve in Copenhagen starting in December 2019. Moreover, the order presents a milestone for VDL.

CAF completes takeover of Solaris

The Spanish rail vehicle manufacturer Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles (CAF) has completed their takeover of the Polish electric bus manufacturer Solaris Bus & Coach. On the 4th of September, CAF received all shares from Solaris. The Polish government will receive 35% ownership, which was negotiated beforehand.

Stagecoach to purchase e-buses for Manchester

The passenger transport operator Stagecoach has announced plans to acquire more than 100 electric double-deckers buses for the greater Manchester area. The first of the 105 new Enviro400 EV City buses will likely hit the roads in summer 2019.
