Vicinity Motor orders batteries from Electrovaya

The Canadian commercial vehicle manufacturer Vicinity Motor has entered into a strategic supply agreement with the battery manufacturer Electrovaya, also based in Canada. Electrovaya is to supply the lithium-ion batteries for the ‘Lightning’ electric buses and the VMC 1200 Class 3 truck.

New York to convert bus fleet to BEVs by 2035

The New York City Council has passed a bill mandating that the city’s school bus fleet be fully electric by 1 September 2035. This is in accordance with the decision to allow only zero-emission passenger cars and light commercial vehicles to be sold from 2035.

Genoa orders e-buses from Solaris for the first time

Solaris has added another electric bus to its portfolio. The new Urbino 9 LE electric is a nine-metre-long low-entry bus designed for inner-city routes and intercity routes and, according to the manufacturer, “represents an excellent link between urban and suburban transport in metropolitan areas”.

Foxconn announces supply agreement for LFP batteries

Foxconn, the Taiwanese manufacturer contracted by Apple among many others, is cooperating with the companies Giga Solar Materials, Long Time Technology and China Steel Chemical to develop anode materials for lithium iron phosphate batteries. The new batteries are to be used for the first time in electric buses from 2023.

Nobina orders 122 electric buses from Volvo

Volvo Buses has received three orders from operator Nobina for a total of 122 electric buses for use in the Swedish cities of Gothenburg, Malmö and Hässleholm. The Volvo 7900 Electric and 7900 Electric Articulated are scheduled for delivery in 2022 and 2023.

Solaris delivers electric bus fleet to Sosnowiec

The Polish electric bus manufacturer has just completed an order by delivering 14 electric buses to municipal operator PKM Sosnowiec in the Polish city of Sosnowiec. The order includes 9 Urbino 12 electric solo buses and 5 articulated Urbino 18 electric units as well as charging infrastructure.
