Volvo invests in high power wireless charging

The Swedes’ financial arm, the Volvo Group Venture Capital AB, say they made an investment in Momentum Dynamics and their high power inductive charging technology. The start-up of Philadelphia is working towards 200+kW to charge heavier electric vehicles with no connection needed.

Tallinna Linnatranspordi considers purchase of 700 e-buses

Tallinna Linnatranspordi (TLT), the municipal transport company of the Estonian capital Tallinn, plans to switch completely to electric mobility by 2035. Mercedes delivers first eCitaro buses to Mannheim and Heidelberg

In Germany, Rhein-Neckar-Verkehr GmbH (RNV) has commissioned three fully electric Mercedes-Benz eCitaro buses for use in Heidelberg’s historic city centre and Mannheim’s new Franklin district. The corresponding agreement between the public transport company and Daimler was signed in 2017.

BYD to deliver 64 electric buses to Medellín

BYD has received an order to supply 64 electric buses to Medellín, Colombia’s second largest city. The electric buses are to be delivered to the local public transport operator Metroplús during the second half of 2019.

California requires all new buses to be electric by 2029

California on Friday became the first state to mandate a full shift to electric buses on public transit routes. Starting in 2029, mass transit agencies in California will only be allowed to buy buses that are fully electric under a rule adopted by the California Air Resources Board (CARB).

BYD delivers electric buses to Brazil & Hungary

Brazil’s largest city, that is Sao Paulo, has received its first electric buses from BYD. The 15 buses are part of a pilot project involving solar power, before they will take up full service in March 2019. Meanwhile, BYD has also become active in Hungary.

The city of Taipei has opened it’s first fully electrified bus line. On the 31.5 km stretch a total of 12 electric buses will begin ferrying passengers. The buses are fitted with motors from Danfoss Editron, but these 12 are just the beginning.

BYD, ST and Yutong share Singapore electric bus order

Singapore has contracted three companies with an order for 60 electric buses to be delivered in 2019/ 2020. The contracts went to BYD, ST Engineering and Yutong-NARI. At the same time, Singapore Power announced their plan to build 1,000 charging points in the city-state.

EU agrees on draft for emissions limits for trucks

The EU Parliament’s environmental committee has made the first step towards a legal CO2 emission limit for trucks. The plan to reduce CO2 emissions by 35% from trucks by 2035 has been approved, with an interim goal of 20% set for 2025.
