SK Signet, a manufacturer of charging solutions, will integrate Hubject Plug&Charge functionality across its DC charger portfolio. Deployment is expected to begin by September 2025.

The partnership will also see SK Signet customers be able to gain access to more than 1250 charge point operators (CPOs) worldwide via the Hubject eRoaming network. Meanwhile, Hubject network users will have the ability to charge at SK Signet stations without separate registration or authentication processes.

Hubject stated that it will make SK Signet the first official ‘EVSE Check Partner’ in Korea, referring to its EVSE CHECK audit which essentially certifies Plug&Charge capability and communication between EVs, charge point management systems, charging towers and the Plug&Charge network.

In essence, Hubject’s Plug&Charge ecosystem deploys vehicle-based authentication, meaning that charging sessions can begin automatically at compatible charge points without the need for additional payment steps. This solution is based on the ISO 15118-2 standard and allows for a streamlined billing process without the need for apps or payment cards.

Christian Hahn, Hubject CEO, said: “This partnership represents what our industry needs to accelerate global EV adoption. SK Signet brings strong technical capabilities and global market presence, while we deliver proven Plug&Charge expertise. Together, we’re enhancing charging reliability worldwide.”

Michael Jongwoo Kim, CEO of SK Signet, added: “Plug&Charge technology is a core technology that enhances security and compatibility between chargers and vehicles. Through this cooperation, we will further strengthen our competitiveness in the global market and provide users with a safer and more convenient charging experience.”

Last week, Hubject also announced a partnership with Place to Plug, a Spanish charging platform provider. This will also see Plug&Charge integrated into Place to Plug’s ecosystem via its Connect Platform and drive app. This will provide Plug&Charge functionality across 5000 charging points, and is expected to be implemented by Q4 of 2025. These are just the latest in a series of collaborations by Hubject around its Plug & Charge functionality, including ChargeHubTritiumAllegoZemetric and more.
