Paua announces expansion of charging network with Eon

UK-based charge point aggregator Paua has announced a new integration with E.on Drive Infrastructure (EDRI). This will bring 22 new locations and 177 high-powered connectors into the Paua network.

With this latest expansion, Paua’s footprint now extends beyond 65,000 connectors. As the company further specifies, the new sites “support faster charging and are ‘medium vehicle’ ready, helping fleets route more efficiently based on vehicle size.”

What Paua means by ‘medium vehicle’ is that the company has introduced a three-tiered vehicle size filters “to bring clarity to fleet operators.” They go from small to large, respectively including passenger cars and compact vans to Articulated 40-tonne+ trucks and HGVs. Medium refers to vehicles that are larger than a standard bay, but are “smaller than an artic,” including Luton vans and 7.5 tonne trucks.

“This isn’t just more plugs in more places,” said Niall Riddell, CEO and Co-founder at Paua. “It’s smart infrastructure, aligned with fleet needs; high-powered, strategically located, and ready for the real-world diversity of electric vehicles hitting the road. Our partners continue to develop leading infrastructure making the transition easier.”

So far this year, Paua has established two major cooperations to help grow its network, including a deal with Milence, or the Paua Share scheme, which gives commercial EV fleets access to charging at shared First Bus depots.

E.on has been steadily expanding its charging network as well, recently having announced plans to install ultra-rapid charging stations in Scotland, or fast charging infrastructure on the German-Danish border at the beginning of the year.
