Nissan cuts Ariya price to qualify for UK Electric Car Grant
The changes bring the model’s starting price down from £39,645 to £33,500 after the £1,500 grant, positioning it below the £37,000 eligibility threshold. According to Nissan, the new pricing will also mean more variants fall below the £40,000 luxury car tax threshold, reducing ownership costs further.
The adjustment follows the Ariya’s recent inclusion on the ECG list, where it was previously the only eligible model priced above the qualifying limit.
Moreover, Nissan UK announced that a new variant, namely the Ariya Shiro, joins the range as the new entry point. Equipped with a 63kWh battery, the Shiro features exclusive monotone pearlescent white paint, ProPILOT driver assistance, a wireless phone charger and a design pack with front fog lights and privacy glass. It qualifies for the ECG and is priced from £33,500 on the road.
The Ariya is available with battery options of 63kWh and 87kWh, offering up to 329 miles of WLTP range. Only versions equipped with e-4ORCE all-wheel-drive and the Evolve trim variants with either 63 or 87 kWh are not eligible for the ECG.
Fiona Mackay, Nissan GB Marketing Director, said: “Securing eligibility for the UK Government’s £1,500 Electric Vehicle Grant makes Ariya more accessible than ever. It now offers greater value without compromising on the innovation, design, and performance our customers expect, and reflects our approach of removing barriers to EV ownership and empowering more drivers to make the switch to zero-emission driving.”
She added: “And this is just the beginning. Alongside Ariya and the newly launched All-New Micra, we’re looking forward to the third-generation British-built Leaf later this year, followed by the electric Juke in 2026, also coming from our Sunderland plant.”
