When a Bluebird is a Newbird

Nissan is now showing its former Bluebird model as a special all-electric model powered by the Nissan Leaf. The electrified car is unfortunately only a one-off to mark the 35th anniversary of production at the Sunderland plant.

Nissan’s Barcelona plant is now closed

As announced, Nissan has stopped producing the eNV200 van at its plant in Barcelona. The electric Nissan van is history after the Japanese company made 49,000 units in Barcelona and exported the eNV200 globally. The van’s successor will be built in France.

Nissan to install over 600 charge points in Europe

Nissan is going to significantly expand the charging infrastructure at its dealerships in Europe through two major collaborations. Allego will install DC chargers at Nissan dealers in 16 countries. In Germany and the United Kingdom, Nissan dealers will build infrastructure with E.ON.

GlasGo Cabs orders 360 Nissan Leaf in Scotland

Glasgow-based taxi and hire car company GlasGo Cabs has ordered 360 Nissan Leafs to replace existing internal combustion models with its fully electric vehicles. The 360 electric cars are to be delivered over a period of three years, the first eleven of which will arrive this year.

Envision AESC aims for 38 GWh in Sunderland

The planned Envision AESC battery factory at the Nissan plant in Sunderland, England, will have an annual capacity of 11 GWh when it opens in 2024 and an annual capacity of up to 38 GWh in a potential final expansion stage. Both figures exceed those previously made public.

Nissan joins race to reclaim mini EV segment

In Norway, 11,811 new electric cars were registered in August. The share of electric cars in new passenger car registrations was 71.9 per cent last month. Norway’s most successful model across all drive types in August was the Tesla Model Y with 1,308 new registrations.

SPIE UK en route to fleet decarbonisation by 2025

British energy and communications firm SPIE UK announces the first step in its fleet electrification effort. The company purchased 60 Nissan e-NV200 vans and says it aims to replace 98 per cent of its fleet with alternative fuel vehicles by 2025.

Nissan has now officially confirmed that Envision AESC will build a battery factory at its plant in Sunderland, England. A new electric model will also be produced there in the future. Both announcements are part of a £1 billion initiative by Nissan and Envision AESC called EV36Zero.

Nissan & Envision AESC to build battery plants in the UK & Japan

Nissan and Chinese battery manufacturer Envision AESC plan to invest more than 200 billion yen (just under 1.5 billion euros) in battery factories for electric cars in the UK and Japan. The two plants are expected to deliver battery output for 700,000 electric vehicles per year from 2024.
