The first two charging hubs are located in the towns of Halethorpe and Oxon Hill, Maryland, just outside of Royal Farms locations. According to Electrify America, each charging hub contains ‘Hyper-fast’ chargers with up to 350 kW of power. Each charging tower appears to have two charging cables, providing capacity for simultaneous charging of two vehicles at once.

Other locations are set to open at Royal Farms stores in other areas including Annapolis, Catonsville, Charlotte Hall, Columbia, Pikesville, and Towson. Electrify America states this will make up a total of 55 individual charging towers, although did not confirm how these would be distributed or how many chargers are at each location on average.

The financial details of the partnership have not been shared, but on its website, Electrify America states that it “pays 100% of the upfront capital investment” covering design, installation, maintenance and upkeep of its charging hubs. It currently operates a total of 1000 charging hubs across the States as well as 5000 chargers.

Customers are able to pay using contactless credit or debit card, Plug & Charge technology, or Electrify America’s dedicated mobile app which also enables users to find chargers.

Thomas Ruszin, fuel & environmental leader at Royal Farms, said: “Our partnership with Electrify America brings high-speed EV charging to the locations our customers already visit for fuel, food, and convenience. These new stations make it easier for drivers to choose electric without sacrificing speed or comfort, while reinforcing our commitment to accessibility and progress.”

Anthony Lambkin, VP of operations at Electrify America, added: “Our collaboration with Royal Farms brings Hyper-Fast charging to the places drivers already know and visit regularly. By combining speed and convenience, we’re helping to make the EV experience more effortless, whether you’re on a daily commute or taking a longer road trip.”
