Ford launches Ford Charge in North America
According to Ford, “over 800 Ford dealerships and counting are providing public access to more than 3,000 DC fast chargers to help electric vehicle drivers road trip to their favourite destinations, regardless of vehicle make or model, with less stress and more convenience.” While dealers may choose their charging provider, hundreds have opted for Ford to directly manage operations through Ford Charge.
The manufacturer describes Ford Charge as an extension of its commitment to electrification. “Ford Charge is backed by Ford and provides reliable fast charging at over 320 Ford dealerships across the U.S. and Canada. These public chargers are open to all compatible electric vehicles,” the company confirmed at the launch.
The chargers are integrated into the BlueOval Charge Network, which Ford calls “North America’s largest integrated network,” providing EV drivers with access to fast charging within 18 miles on most US highways.
Drivers can locate Ford Charge stations via the BlueOval Charge Network for Ford customers, as well as through PlugShare and the Shell Recharge app. These platforms offer real-time availability, pricing details and route planning tools. Most dealership sites provide 24/7 access, with detailed status updates available in the FordPass app. The network also includes 24/7 live agent call-centre support for any user of a Ford Charge station.
Ford positions Ford Charge as part of its long-term strategy to ensure accessible and reliable charging infrastructure, available not only to Ford customers but to all EV drivers. Integrated with the wider BlueOval Charge Network and supporting Plug & Charge functionality across Tesla Supercharger and Electrify America stations, the new service adds a dedicated Ford-operated layer to North America’s fast-charging landscape.
