Ford looking to build MEB electric car in Cologne

This summer just passed, Ford announced that its future electric car would be developed on the basis of Volkswagen’s Modular E-Drive Box (MEB) in Cologne-Merkenich, Germany. Now, various reports from the German media are now reporting that the electric car is also to be built at the Ford plant in Cologne.

Ford has presented the electric version of its Transit van model scheduled to go on sale in late 2021. The base price in the USA is expected to be below 45,000 dollars. In Europe, the “electric workhorse” is scheduled to be launched in spring 2022.

Ford builds out US plants for production of EVs

Ford has announced a number of investments to build out several US plants to produce electric models and components. The Van Dyke transmission plant will also build electric motors in future and in Kansas City, Ford will invest 100 million dollars in manufacturing capabilities for the e-transit.

Ford Kuga hybrid battery problems persist

Ford apparently can’t get the battery problems of the Kuga PHEV under control. After the manufacturer stopped sales of the part-time electric vehicle in August due to concerns about battery overheating, Ford is now recalling all Kuga models with plug-in hybrid drive to garages across Europe.

Ford will make EVs in Canada from 2024 onwards

US carmaker Ford has just announced investments of 1.8 billion Canadian dollars in its plant in Oakville (Ontario) and Windsor’s two assembly plants. The investment will enable the Oakville plant to convert to electric car production by 2024.

Ford lays founding stone to produce the F-150

Ford updates Mach-E fast-charging data

Following real-life testing, Ford is updating the fast-charging data for the Mustang Mach-E. In the ‘Extended Range’ variant with battery and rear-wheel drive, the SUV’s charging performance is around 30% higher than the values stated before, the car manufacturer reports.
