Rivian broadens quarterly loss year-by-year

The US electric car start-up Rivian has presented its business figures for the first quarter of 2022. The net loss in the first three months of the year was 1.59 billion US dollars, compared to 414 million US dollars in the same quarter of the previous year. Compared to Q4 2021, however, the loss fell.

United Rentals purchase 530 EVs from Ford

The US company United Rentals has signed an agreement with Ford Pro to purchase 530 all-electric vehicles for its North American rental and corporate fleets. This involves 500 F-150 Lightning pickup trucks and 30 E-Transit vans.

Ford E-Transit Custom to release in 2023

Ford Pro has unveiled the all-electric E-Transit Custom, which will go into production in the second half of 2023. The E-Transit Custom is expected to offer a range of up to 380 kilometres and a towing capacity similar to the diesel version.

DPD UK orders 1000 Ford E-transit vans

The parcel delivery company DPD is expanding its fleet in the UK by 1,000 Ford E-Transit to a total of over 2,500 electric vehicles. The first of the 1,000 Ford E-Transits ordered are to be delivered to DPD later this month.

Ford completes the first serial electric F-150

Ford has started series production of the F-150 Lightning. The battery-electric pickup truck is built at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn in the US state of Michigan. Bill Ford even speaks of the “Model T of the 21st century”.

Ford plans to release 7 new BEVs in Europe by 2024

Ford has announced plans to introduce three new electric passenger cars and four new electric commercial vehicles in Europe by 2024. The goal is to sell more than 600,000 electric vehicles annually in Europe from 2026. There are also details of Ford’s MEB model.

PG&E & Ford testing vehicle-to-grid tech with F-150

In California, Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) and Ford have announced a vehicle-to-grid (V2G) collaboration. In the pilot project, PG&E and Ford will test the F-150 Lightning and its Intelligent Backup Power bidirectional charging capabilities in powering customer’s homes in PG&E’s service area.

Redwood Materials sources batteries from Ford & Volvo

Redwood Materials, founded by ex-Tesla CTO JB Straubel, has launched a recycling programme for electric and hybrid vehicle batteries in California. Ford and Volvo Cars are the first car manufacturers to support the programme with their batteries. Redwood is also calling on other manufacturers to join the programme.
