ICCT e-mobility transition ranking shows Tesla and BYD in lead

A new report by the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) assesses how effectively the world’s 20 largest automakers are transitioning to electric vehicles. At the top of the ranking is Tesla, followed by Chinese manufacturer BYD, which is catching up fast.

Surprising cooperation is to begin in North America. Ford will install Tesla’s charging port in its new electric vehicles from 2025 onwards. In the interim, Ford vehicles with CCS ports will be able to use Tesla Superchargers by means of adapters.

Zeeba to electrify California fleet with Ford

The Californian fleet leasing provider Zeeba is procuring almost 250 electric vehicles from Ford. These are a mix of the Mustang Mach-E, F-150 Lightning and E-Transit models. Additionally, Ford will supply Zeeba with AC chargers at various locations in Southern California.

Ford secures nickel for electric car batteries from Indonesia. The carmaker is investing with mining company PT Vale Indonesia and Chinese company Huayou Cobalt in a nickel processing plant in Pomalaa in Southeast Sulawesi, where Vale operates a nickel mine.

Redwood Materials has released an interesting update on its electric and hybrid vehicle battery recycling programme, launched about a year ago in California with partners Ford and Volvo. Redwood has collected and recycled 1,268 end-of-life lithium-ion and nickel-metal hydride battery packs over the past 12 months.

USPS orders 9,250 EVs & 14,000 chargers

The United States Postal Service (USPS) has ordered 9,250 Ford E-Transit electric delivery vans and 14,000 chargers. Charging stations will be installed at USPS locations, supplied by Blink Charging, Siemens and Rexel USA, with an investment of $260 million.

Ford test proves efficiency of surface heaters in BEVs

As part of the EU project CEVOLVER (Connected Electric Vehicle Optimised for Life, Value, Efficiency and Range), Ford engineers have shown that heating surfaces can reduce energy consumption in the interior of an electric vehicle by 13 per cent. The test was conducted in an electric delivery vehicle.
