VinFast launches VF 6 and VF 7 as first EVs in India
The Vietnamese automaker imports both VF 6 and VF 7 as CKD kits and assembles them at its local plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu – its first overseas production facility. Despite limited localisation, it has priced the EVs aggressively, pricing them below locally built rivals from established brands such as Hyundai, Mahindra and Tata Motors.
VinFast has introduced the VF 6 and VF 7 at introductory prices of 1.649 million rupees (approximately €15,965) and 2.089 million rupees (approximately €20,225), respectively. The company offers the VF 6 with two motor options: one rated at 130 kW and 250 Nm of torque and another at 150 kW and 310 Nm. With the latter, the sub-compact SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 kph in 8.9 seconds. A 59.6 kWh LFP battery pack powers both versions, providing 468 km of range with the 130 kW/250 Nm motor and 463 km with the 150 kW/310 Nm motor.

The VF 6 comes well-equipped even in the base trim, with LED projector headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an auto-dimming interior rear-view mirror, a 360º camera system, an eight-way power driver’s seat and seven airbags as standard. Higher trims add 18-inch alloy wheels, a colour head-up display, ventilated front seats, an eight-speaker sound system and Level 2 driver assistance systems, among other premium features.

As for the VF 7, VinFast offers the compact SUV in two FWD variants and an AWD version. The base VF 7 uses the same 130 kW/250 Nm motor and 59.6 kWh battery pack as the base VF 6, delivering 438 km on a full charge. The mid-tier configuration upgrades to the 150 kW/310 Nm motor and pairs it with a larger 70.8 kWh LFP battery pack. It accelerates from 0 to 100 kph in 9.5 seconds and offers 532 km of range – enough for a Delhi-Agra round trip with spare capacity for local use afterwards.
The top-spec VF 7 comes in a dual-motor AWD configuration, with 260 kW of combined power and 500 Nm of torque, using the same 70.8 kWh LFP battery. The twin motors cut the 0–100 kph time to 5.8 seconds, though range drops slightly to 510 km.

VinFast distinguishes the VF 7 from the VF 6 with exclusive features such as 19-inch alloy wheels, flush door handles, heated outside rear-view mirrors with memory function, and a 90-watt USB Type-C charging port, all included as standard. Higher trims add a powered tailgate, ventilated front seats with driver-side power adjustment, Level 2 ADAS and a wider range of premium equipment.

Alongside competitive pricing and equipment, VinFast is bundling several ownership offers. Buyers get a 10-year/200,000 km battery warranty, complimentary charging at V-Green stations until July 2028, and free maintenance for three years. The company also promises extensive after-sales support, with 26 workshops and 240 extended service centres planned nationwide. Of these, 120 centres are already operational. On the retail side, VinFast aims to establish 35 dealerships across 27 cities by December.
VinFast has installed annual production capacity for 50,000 EVs at its Indian plant. The company sees the site as a potential export hub for South Asia, the Middle East and Africa. It intends to increase localisation beyond CKD operations to become a high-volume player. At Auto Expo 2025, VinFast Asia CEO Pham Sanh Chau indicated that the VF 3, a micro SUV potentially competing with MG’s Comet EV, could be the first of those heavily localised models.
