Geely opens UK order books for the EX5
Geely is introducing the EX5 to the UK as its debut model, with first customer deliveries scheduled for late October. The EX5 is a mid-size SUV measuring 4.61 metres long, 1.90 metres wide and 1.67 metres high. It is powered by a front-mounted 215bhp (160kW) electric motor paired with a 60.2kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. The system enables a 0-62mph sprint of 6.9 seconds and supports charging at up to 100kW, allowing a 30–80 per cent recharge in around 20 minutes.
Battery capacity and motor configuration are consistent across the range, though range varies slightly by trim level. In entry-level SE specification the EX5 offers up to 267 miles (430 kilometres), while in Max trim the figure is 255 miles, likely due to additional weight.
The model line-up begins with the SE at £31,990, which comes equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights with High Beam Control, heated and electrically adjustable front seats, heated steering wheel, adaptive cruise control, a 15.4-inch central touchscreen and a 360-degree parking camera system. The mid-level Pro, priced at £33,990, adds 19-inch wheels and an alternative interior colour. At the top of the range, the Max trim costs £36,990 and features a panoramic roof, powered tailgate, ventilated and massaging front seats, ambient lighting, an upgraded audio system and a head-up display.
Reports suggest the initial models will match the specification of the Australian-market version, with potential adaptations for the UK to follow. Every EX5 sold will include an Andersen A3 home wallbox charger. Warranty coverage extends to eight years in total, consisting of a six-year standard period with an additional two-year extension.
The EX5 initially launched in China. There, it boasts a range of up to 610 kilometres after receiving an update earlier this year. That is because the electric SUV is sold in China with both a 60.2kWh or a 68.39kWh LFP battery. The latter won’t be available in the UK for now.
The model is also available in Germany, where Geely markets it as the Galaxy E5. The company aims to expand its global retail footprint to more than 300 dealers and service centres outside China by the end of 2025.
