Jeep has introduced the Jeep EV grant, worth £3,750 across the Avenger Electric range. Available on the Longitude, Altitude and Summit trims until 30 September, the incentive positions the entry-level Longitude at £26,249, the Altitude at £28,249 and the Summit at £30,249.

In addition, Jeep is offering a £1,500 deposit contribution on the Avenger Summit when financed through 0% APR Personal Contract Purchase. It brings the monthly leasing payment to as low as 270 pounds.

The UK launched the government-funded Electric Car Grant in July. Vehicles that qualify will be subsidised with up to £3,750. The vehicles must be priced below 37,000 pounds and, as we detailed in this article, manufacturers must demonstrate verifiable commitments to decarbonisation. The battery production location, as well as the vehicles’ assembly location, also play an important role.

It had already been rumoured earlier that Stellantis, parent company of Jeep, would not qualify for the grant, as it relies on production in Poland. The Jeep Avenger, for instance, rolls off the production line at the factory in Tychy in Poland.

Despite Poland’s growing importance as an EV manufacturing hub, with Europe’s largest battery plant located in Wrocław, the country remains heavily dependent on coal. Around 60 per cent of its electricity is generated from coal, placing its carbon emissions on par with China at roughly 7.5 tonnes of CO₂ per capita, according to the International Energy Agency.

Other Stellantis models from Citroen, Peugeot, and Vauxhall have made the list of cars eligible for government subsidies. The list currently includes a total of 32 models, albeit only the Ford E-Tourneo Courier and Ford Puma Gen-E qualify for the £3,750. All other models are currently subsidised by £1,500.
