BYD reaches 100 UK dealership milestone in record time
It marks a rapid expansion for the company, given that it had no presence at all in Britain just two and a half years ago. BYD now has dealerships across the country, with many of these concentrated in the South East in towns such as Canterbury, Chichester, Croydon, Ipswich and St Albans. To get there, the company has partnered with established UK dealership groups including Hartwell, Glyn Hopkin, and John Clark Motor Group.
BYD states that the milestone reflects both growing demand for its models as well as its ambition to become a mainstream brand in Europe’s second-largest car market. Steve Beattie, BYD UK’s sales and network director, said: “Reaching 100 sites in such a short time is testament to the appeal of our cars and the strength of our retailer partnerships. It ensures more customers can access our Super Hybrid DM-i models such as the Seal U SUV and our award-winning pure electric cars like the Dolphin Surf.”
The milestone coincides with the launch of BYD’s certified pre-owned scheme in the UK, which covers a 179-point inspection, a minimum 12 months / 20,000km vehicle warranty, transfer of the original battery warranty for eight years or 200,000km, and two years of 24/7 roadside assistance and in-vehicle data connectivity.
BYD is growing rapidly in Europe, having just outsold Tesla in new EU vehicle registrations for two consecutive months compared to last year. The company is also preparing for the European arrival of its ‘Flash Charger’ infrastructure in 2026, which promises megawatt-class charging with a single cable that could provide up to 250 miles of range in just five minutes.
