Los Angeles first electric buses to hit the road in March

The city of Los Angeles will receive the first of a total of 155 electric buses to be delivered over the next two years starting in March. The procurement is part of the California city’s plan to fully electrify its bus fleet by the start of the 2028 Summer Olympics.

Chinese EV sales drop significantly

The electric vehicle sales of the Chinese manufacturers BYD, BAIC BJEV and Nio declined sharply in January. The main reasons for this were the few business days in January due to the comparatively early New Year holidays and the outbreak of the coronavirus.

Newest CAM study shows Tesla as EV sales leader

With record sales of 367,000 passenger cars in 2019, Tesla has increased its deliveries by 50% and thus became by far the strongest selling electric car manufacturer in the past year, ahead of the Chinese manufacturer BYD with 219,000 new energy vehicles.

First images of BYD’s Han available

BYD has released the first pictures of its new sedan Han, which will be offered as both BEV and PHEV and will debut at the Beijing Auto Show in April. The market launch is scheduled for June.

Keolis orders 259 BYD buses to the Netherlands

BYD has received its largest single order ever for electric buses from Europe. Keolis Nederland has ordered 259 battery-electric buses from the Chinese manufacturer to be delivered from summer 2020. This is based on a new ten-year operating concession recently granted to Keolis.

BYD to boost electric bus production in India

BYD plans to increase the production capacity for electric buses in India from currently 2,000 to 5,000 per year in cooperation with their partner Olectra. In addition, the order books for the T3 electric delivery van in India are to be opened soon.

Los Angeles orders 130 BYD electric buses

BYD has just announced that the Los Angeles Department of Transportation has ordered 130 battery-electric buses. The order has been prompted by the “Green New Deal”, that involves converting the entire LA public transit bus fleet to zero-emission buses by 2030.

Glasgow Airport introduces electric buses

Glasgow has introduced a three-strong fleet of battery-electric buses for its carpark operations and claims this a first in the UK. Built in Scotland by Alexander Dennis Limited (ADL) and BYD, it is the new Enviro200EV model’s Scottish debut.

US brewery to use 21 BYD heavy-duty e-trucks

The US brewery Anheuser-Busch will use 21 BYD electrically powered heavy-duty trucks in its Californian fleet as part of a government project. The BYD 8TT electric trucks are scheduled to go into service at the end of this year.

BYD delivers 9 electric garbage trucks to Brazil

BYD has delivered nine electric trucks to the Rio de Janeiro municipal cleaning company Comlurb, which will use the BYD T8 electric trucks for waste collection. This will apparently make the fleet the largest fleet of electric trucks outside of China.

Germany buys electric buses from BYD

German public transport companies Bogestra (Bochum-Gelsenkirchener Straßenbahnen) and HCR (Straßenbahn Herne-Castrop-Rauxel) have ordered a total of 22 electric buses from Chinese electric automotive giant BYD (Build Your Dreams). This is the first electric-bus order for BYD from Germany.

Possible cooperation between Audi and BYD
