MGS6 EV launches in UK with order books now open
With the MGS6 EV joining an expanding electric lineup – alongside the likes of the MG4 and IM6 – it appears that the Chinese-owned brand is targeting buyers seeking a higher-segment eSUV with long range and competitive pricing.
The entry-level model, the MGS6 EV SE Long Range, uses a rear-wheel drive single motor producing 180kW output. This gives it a WLTP range of 329 miles, with the OTR price starting at £37,995 – which undercuts the Skoda Enyaq’s entry price of £39,010. The Trophy Long Range variant offers the same power and range alongside additional quality-of-life and tech features from £40,995. The single motor variants reportedly reach 0-62mph in 7.3 seconds with an 11.1-metre turning circle quoted for these rear-wheel drive variants.
Then, there’s the flagship Trophy Dual Motor, which introduces all-wheel drive and an increased drive output of 266kW. Here, MG quotes a 0-62mph time of 5.1 seconds and a WLTP range of 301 miles – with this variant starting at £43,995. All versions are limited to a 124-mph top speed.
Each variant includes five drive modes and five energy-recovery levels, including a one-pedal driving option. The vehicle’s 110mm-thick battery pack uses a horizontal cell layout to maximise cabin and storage space. On that point, boot capacity sits at 674 litres, expandable to 1910 litres, with an additional 124 litre frunk.
There’s no word yet on when vehicle deliveries will begin, only that the MGS6 is “available to order now” and that it “will be available this month”. MG has also not yet commented on whether the MGS6 will be launched in other European markets.
David Allison MG Motor UK’s Head of Product and Planning, said: “The MGS6 EV is a significant new offering from MG, and our eighth all-electric car to be launched in our UK home market, building on proven cars like the MG4 EV hatchback but also drawing inspiration from our premium MGs like the dramatic Cyberster convertible. MG’s overall experience and knowledge as one of the best-selling EV manufacturers, with over 100,000 cars delivered to UK customers, ensures drivers get a stylish SUV that stands apart from the crowd.”
