Lucid Gravity: The touring version remains just under the €100,000 mark

Lucid is expanding its range of luxury SUVs with the Gravity: following the Grand Touring, the second-highest specification model is now also available to order. Customers will have to make certain compromises in terms of charging power and range.

Lucid’s second model, the luxury SUV Gravity, celebrated its European premiere at the IAA Mobility in September. Immediately afterwards, the US manufacturer opened the order books for its top-of-the-range version, the Gravity ‘Grand Touring’. It is asking €116,990 for this model. The second-highest trim level, ‘Touring’, is now available to order, starting at €99,900, just below the €100,000 mark.

The Touring model will celebrate its premiere at the LA Auto Show from 21 to 30 November. In the United States, this version of the electric SUV costs $79,900, or around €69,000, but in the US, net prices are usually communicated clearly. According to Lucid, customers get a vehicle that “combines the functionality of a full-size SUV with the format of a mid-size vehicle and offers space for up to seven adults.”

The Gravity comes standard as a conventional five-seater. Those who decide against the third row of seats will have significantly more luggage space. With the rear seats folded flat in the standard version, it has a generous 3,398 litres of storage space.

Compared to the top-of-the-range Grand Touring model, however, it does have to make some technical compromises: instead of a 926-volt architecture, the Touring ‘only’ features a 672-volt electrical system. The charging capacity is 250 kW instead of 400 kW. This means that enough power for 400 kilometres can be recharged in 23 minutes. With the Grand Touring, the whole process takes only 14 minutes. The battery capacity is 89 kWh. This should give a WLTP range of 545 kilometres in mixed driving. By comparison, the top-of-the-range version has 123 kWh and a range of 748 kilometres.

Two electric motors provide propulsion, delivering a combined system output of 418 kW. This enables the vehicle to accelerate from zero to 100 kilometres per hour in 4.2 seconds when required. The Gravity Grand Touring delivers 617 kW, enabling it to sprint from zero to 100 kph in just 3.6 seconds. To offer a high level of comfort at the same time, the SUV comes with air suspension as standard. For an additional charge, the ‘Dynamic Handling’ package, designed for greater agility, is available, including three-chamber air suspension and rear-wheel steering.
