20 Rizon electric trucks to join fleets across California
Founded in 2023, Daimler Truck launched Rizon as a new dedicated brand for medium-duty electric trucks in the US in April 2023. It currently offers four model variants: the e16L, e16M, e18L, and e18M. They all have a range of 110 to 160 miles (177 to 257 km). Earlier this year, Rizon also made its electric trucks available in Canada. What the brand appears to be attempting now is a concerted effort at growth in the US.
First, the California rollout will see Rizon trucks deployed across multiple sectors: a hospitality operator will receive five box-truck units; a real estate developer is acquiring five junk-haul trucks; a college campus is gaining five electric service-body units; a renewable fuel distributor will receive two flatbeds. Then, there’s a number of city authorities which will implement Rizon trucks into their municipal operations: Bakersfield, El Cajon, Claremonth, La Mirada and the Port of Los Angeles.
Then, there’s the dealership initiative. Rizon says it is expanding its dealership network, although this is taking place through partnerships with existing dealers rather than in-house. It says it has joined forces with Diversified Truck and Equipment Sales in Arizona, Range Zero Emissions in Washington, and Alta eMobility in New Jersey and New York to “meet growing demand”.

Our expanding customer base and dealership network show that more fleets are recognizing the environmental and operational benefits of going electric.”
