India: VinFast to enter multiple new EV segments in 2026

VinFast has announced a new major product offensive in India, with plans to foray into new passenger EV segments and also enter the commercial EV space next year. The company views India as a strategic market for its global expansion and plans to launch new models every six months.

In February 2026, VinFast will expand its passenger EV line-up in India with its third model – the Limo Green. The company offers the electric MPV only in Vietnam, which will make India the model’s first international market. It also plans to sell the Limo Green in Indonesia, where it has scheduled the launch for March 2026. Back home, it launched the seven-seat EV in August and sold 6,500 units by October.

The Limo Green measures 4,740 mm in length, 1,872 mm in width, and 1,723 mm in height and has a 2,840 mm wheelbase. In Vietnam, VinFast offers this with a front-mounted motor that produces 150 kW and 280 Nm of torque and a 60.13 kWh LFP battery pack with a maximum charging input of 6.9 kW (AC)/80 kW (DC). This configuration delivers a range of 450 kilometres, as per NEDC.
VinFast is also eyeing India’s electric two-wheeler segment, which is significantly bigger than electric cars.

This year, 1.2 million electric two-wheelers have been sold already, as opposed to
just under 100,000 electric cars, a media report said last month. Chau said many of the company’s car dealers are interested in selling its two-wheelers as well. In Vietnam, VinFast offers nine series of two-wheelers, including Evo, Feliz, Flazz, Klara, Motio, Theon, Vento, Vero, and ZGoo.

By August 2026, VinFast plans to launch electric buses in India, Chau said. The company is discussing potential orders from State Road Transport Undertakings of Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh. In other markets, it offers three electric buses: EB 6, EB 8, and EB 12, covering six-metre, eight-metre, and twelve-metre segments, respectively.

VinFast launched the EB 8 and EB 12 in Europe just back in October, with a maximum capacity of 60 passengers and 90 passengers, respectively, and a range of over 290 kilometres and over 400 kilometres, respectively. The company offers the EB 6 only in its home market, with a capacity of up to 30 people and a range of up to 340 kilometres.

In India, VinFast currently offers only the VF 6 and VF 7 SUVs and assembles both from imported CKD kits at a local factory in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. Chau said that the company is discussing further localisation with suppliers and expects to move from CKD operations to full-scale manufacturing soon.

Green and Smart Mobility (GSM), VinFast’s sister company that provides electric ride-hailing services, will begin operations in India next year shortly after the Limo Green launch. GSM will only use VinFast EVs in its fleet to support the new brand’s sales growth. Building on this synergy, the company will train its drivers double as sales agents for VinFast EVs and give them incentives for each sale.
