E-mobility companies found new industry association ‘E-Mobility Deutschland e.V.’

ABB E-mobility, Alpitronic, Aral Pulse (BP Europa), Electra, Engie Vianeo, Fastned, Ionity, and Shell have founded the e-Mobility Germany association (e.V.). The purpose of this new association is to represent the interests of the electromobility industry, with a focus on expanding charging infrastructure, to policymakers, authorities, and the public.

The association also aims to serve as ‘a central point of contact for the industry,’ according to its own statements. The office of ‘E-Mobility Deutschland e.V.’ is located in Berlin.

At the first general meeting on Friday, 19 December, the board was elected, comprising Aral Pulse (BP Europa), Electra, Fastned, Ionity, and Shell. Linda Boll, Country Director Germany at Fastned, was elected as Chair of the Board, with Alexander Junge, eMobility Executive Board Member at Aral, serving as her deputy.

Two key charging station manufacturers, ABB E-Mobility and Alpitronic, are among the members. Fastned, Ionity, and Electra are exclusively charge point operators (and are already allied in the ChargeLeague alongside Atlante), while Engie Vianeo, Aral Pulse, and Shell also operate charge points but remain connected to the ‘old’ energy sector.

“I am delighted that, with this association, we can strengthen the representation of charging infrastructure providers and hardware manufacturers in Berlin. We aim to contribute to the major debates surrounding electromobility with our own voice,” said Association Chair Linda Boll. “We want to bring fresh momentum to political discussions and engage constructively with all relevant stakeholders. 2026 will be a pivotal year, as decisions will be made that could sustainably shape the success of an entire industry.”

However, it is not only interesting to see who is involved in the new industry association but also who is not. This week, the Federal Network Agency published the latest charging station register as of 1 November 2025. It lists EnBW Mobility+, E.ON Drive, and Tesla with its Superchargers as the three largest charge point operators in Germany. None of these three companies are represented in the new association.
