Iveco delivers 275 eDaily to Petit Forestier
This delivery is part of a memorandum of understanding signed in September 2022 between Petit Forestier and Iveco, which includes an order for 2,000 eDaily chassis to be fitted with refrigerated box bodies by Lecapitaine. To date, Petit Forestier has taken delivery of nearly 14 per cent of the total volume agreed in the memorandum.
The eDaily is the battery-electric version of the well-known Iveco Daily, available in a variety of body styles, from panel vans to chassis cabs with dual tyres. According to the manufacturer, the electric variant retains the ‘hallmark robustness, reliability, versatility and exceptional payload and towing capacity’ of its diesel counterpart.
The eDaily units selected by the Petit Forestier Group offer a real-world range of up to 150 kilometres, even when fully loaded and accounting for the energy required for refrigeration. This range is sufficient for urban deliveries. The electric motor delivers up to 140 kW of power and 400 Nm of torque. A drive mode switch allows drivers to choose between a ‘Hi-Power’ mode for additional performance or an energy-efficient setting, depending on requirements.
Iveco highlights that ‘ePTO system, which was previewed by Petit Forestier Group, is particularly which is particularly suited to refrigerated vehicles.’ It operates using the power grid to charge the vehicle while simultaneously supplying power to the refrigeration units. “This feature, which is unique in the world of electric vehicles, simplifies operations by reducing charging steps and optimises both economic and energy performance,” the manufacturer explains. Additionally, the ‘Urban’ refrigerated box body by Lecapitaine, with its aerodynamically optimised shell and lightweight construction, is designed to ‘maximise eDaily’s energy-savings.’
“To meet environmental challenges, our goal is to provide our customers with the means to operate lower-emission assets. That’s why we actively support them in the decarbonisation of their fleets,” says Yann Leriche, Director of Assets & Supply at the Petit Forestier Group. “Our fleet of electric vehicles enables our customers to reduce their environmental impact integrating seamlessly into urban environments where silence is a value.”
“The eDaily proves that zero-emission mobility can deliver performance, reliability, and versatility — even for demanding refrigeration applications,” says John Venstra, Head of International Key Accounts at Iveco. “We are proud to strengthen our partnership with Petit Forestier Group, a company that shares our vision of sustainable innovation and to helping customers in a practical energy transition.”
