VinFast formalises Lac Hong ultra-luxury car brand, reveals two new models

Following the launch of the Lac Hong 900 LX last year, VinFast has established Lac Hong as its ultra-luxury brand. The company will now sell cars under a total of three brands: VinFast, Lac Hong and Green (commercial).

VinFast has also introduced two new models under its newly formalised luxury brand: the 800S and the 900S, which it will sell alongside the 900 LX. While it has yet to reveal the dimensions, the 800S appears to be a full-size SUV and the 900S a full-size sedan. The company has scheduled the sales start of both new models for 2027.

The Vietnamese automaker plans to offer the new Lac Hong models with up to three motors, including two units at the rear and one at the front, producing a total output of up to 460 kW. The company has not disclosed any details regarding charging times or driving range. “The Lac Hong 800S and 900S are further proof of VinFast’s superior technological mastery, product development, and manufacturing capabilities,” said Duong Thi Thu Trang, Vice General Director, Global Automotive Sales, at VinFast.

The 800S and 900S embody the same design language, featuring a sharp and stately exterior with fine detailing. At the front, they feature a large rectangular grille with a V-shaped lower edge and vertical slats inspired by Vietnamese bamboo, split headlamps with ultra-slim DRLs above and main lighting units positioned lower in the bumper, and a soaring bird bonnet ornament symbolising Vietnam’s mythical Lac bird.

Along the sides, the 800S features a full-length chrome strip that visually connects the headlamps to the tail lamps, flush-fitting electric door handles integrated into the door surfaces, multi-spoke wheels and the brand logo on the wide D-pillar. It has a low roofline that slopes swiftly towards the rear. The 900S adopts a sportier design, featuring larger five-spoke wheels and sleeker mirrors and window surrounds. Its roofline gently slopes and flows into the C-pillar, which transitions smoothly into the short, slightly raised rear deck.

At the rear, the 800S features restrained surfacing, a largely planar tailgate and a cleanly integrated rear window. The 900S incorporates subtle contouring on the boot lid, along with fine vertical strakes on the upper edge. Both models feature vertical side air outlets with horizontal louvres, matching the styling at the front. Their slim tail lights represent a more angular interpretation of the V-shaped signature seen on VinFast models.

The 800S and 900S feature contemporary interiors characterised by a reductive layout and extensive use of high-grade materials, including genuine wood veneers and gold-plated trim elements. The designers have avoided recent experimental trends, such as two-spoke steering wheels and dedicated front passenger displays, opting instead for a more conventional aesthetic.

The new Lac Hong EVs feature automatic doors, zero-gravity seats and a new fully active suspension system. The 900S additionally features a starlit headliner, a privacy glass partition between the front and rear of the cabin, a projector and a fold-out table for rear passengers.

VinFast has not announced any plans to launch the 800S or 900S internationally. As with the 900 LX, availability may initially be limited to the domestic market.
