Nexport to build electric vehicles in Australia

The electric bus manufacturer Nexport has announced plans for the production of electric vehicles in a new plant in the Australian state of New South Wales. It will initially produce buses, but later also other types of vehicles such as cars, trucks and vans.

Finland to receive 106 electric buses from BYD

BYD is expanding its electric buses to Finland for the first time with a significant order. The operator Nobina has ordered a total of 106 electric buses from BYD, 64 of which are destined for the capital Helsinki and 42 for the city of Turku, including a new model from the Chinese manufacturer.

BYD opens electric bus battery factory in Brazil

BYD has now started operations at its battery factory in Brazil. The factory is the third factory in the country belonging to the Chinese electric vehicle giant, though this will be their first battery factory and will produce lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries primarily for electric buses.

BYD delivers 33 electric buses to Barbados

BYD has delivered the first fleet of electric buses for public transport to Barbados. On the island state, 33 battery-electric buses are now operating under the direction of the Barbados Transport Board. Two more will follow by December.

V2G electric bus project takes off in London

A large vehicle-to-grid project with electric buses has now been launched at a bus depot in North London. The Bus2Grid project is testing V2G systems with an initial 28 electric double-decker buses with which more than 1 MW of energy can be fed back into the grid.

BYD & ADL to build double deckers for National Express

BYD and their British partner Alexander Dennis Limited (ADL) are supplying a total of 29 fully electric Enviro400EV double-decker buses to bus operator National Express in the English West Midlands. The first 19 units have now gone into service in Birmingham.

Santiago de Chile receives 150 new BYD buses

A further 150 BYD electric buses went into service in Santiago de Chile, bringing the total number of BYD electric buses in Chile to 455. Among other things, the new bus shipment will serve Avenida Bernardo O’Higgins, known as Alameda, in the historic part of the city.

China’s EV market is recovering slowly

In China, 55,829 battery-electric cars and 14,370 plug-in hybrids from local production were sold in May. The sales figures for so-called New Energy Vehicles were thus 25.8 per cent lower than in the same month last year, but 19.5 per cent higher than in April 2020.

BYD will supply 12 all-electric articulated buses to the new Green Line Project corridor, the main urban mobility project in the city of São José dos Campos, in Brazil’s São Paulo state. All the buses will be delivered in the next 18 months.

BYD’s net profit in the first quarter fell by around 85 per cent year-on-year from 749.7 million yuan to 112.6 million yuan (almost 14.6 million euros). Revenues in the first quarter fell by 35 per cent to 19.68 billion yuan.

The Chinese electric car and battery manufacturer BYD has published its preliminary results for the 2019 fiscal year. At just under 121.8 billion yuan, sales were on a par with the previous year, but profits slumped by 42 per cent to around 1.6 billion yuan.
