ABT & WiTricity to offer inductive charging solution for the ID.4
ABT e-Line wants to offer inductive charging for electric cars in the European aftermarket with WiTricity. The VW ID.4, which will be upgraded by ABT e-Line for wireless charging with WiTricity technology, will be the first to be launched at the beginning of 2024. Other electric cars from the VW Group are to follow.

Volkswagen issues recall for the ID.4 in the USA
VW recalls 1,042 units of the rear-wheel drive ID.4 built at the Chattanooga plant in the US. In the affected vehicles, the charging cable of the 12-volt battery can touch the steering column shaft and could lead to a short circuit if the cable insulation is worn out.

Volkswagen boosts BEV deliveries by 27%
The Volkswagen Group increased its deliveries of fully electric vehicles by 27 per cent in the first six months of 2022 compared to the same period last year. A total of 217,100 all-electric vehicles were handed over to customers in the first half of the year, up from 170,900 in the same period last year.

VW gives ID.4 & ID.5 GTX models an upgrade
VW has given the GTX models of ID.4 and ID.5 a slight upgrade. The previously optional ‘Design’ and ‘Comfort’ equipment packages are now included in the standard equipment. Zietlow and team set EV altitude world record
Rainer Zietlow and his team were able to set a Guinness World Record for electric vehicles with 5,816 metres of altitude. They drove a VW ID.4 GTX up the world’s highest passable mine road at the Uturuncu volcano in Bolivia.

VW ID.4 production kicks off in Emden
The VW ID.4 is now also being produced in Emden. This means that the ID.4 is now built at the German sites in Zwickau and Emden as well as in the Chinese plants in Anting and Foshan. From autumn this year, production for the US market will start in Chattanooga.

VW to begin ID.4 production in May
VW plans to start series production of the ID.4 at the Emden plant in May. The carmaker made the announcement after a visit to the site by VW brand CEO Ralf Brandstätter, his successor Thomas Schäfer and the chairperson of the general works council Daniela Cavallo.
