CATL expands battery loops in Indonesia
CATL’s recycling subsidiary Brunp has entered into a partnership with Indonesian companies Antam and IBI. CATL wants to invest the equivalent of almost 5.5 billion euros in the Indonesia. The agreement focuses on nickel mining and processing, battery materials, battery manufacturing and battery recycling.
CATL aims for 230 GWh production in 2021
CATL wants to massively expand its production capacities for battery cells, to 230 GWh this year and to 1,200 GWh in 2025. In parallel, the Chinese battery manufacturer is aiming to expand to Japan, Indonesia, the USA and Europe.
CATL plans to build battery plant in Indonesia
Chinese battery cell manufacturer CATL plans to invest five billion US dollars in a battery factory in Indonesia. According to the Indonesian government, Tesla will also send a delegation next month to discuss possible investments in a supply chain for its electric cars.
Indonesia: International consortium seeks nickel & cobalt
An international consortium of renowned e-mobility players plans to build a resource mining plant for lithium-ion batteries on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi. In concrete terms, the project reportedly involves nickel and cobalt. Apparently, Tesla, CATL, LG Chem, Daimler and Volkswagen aim to participate in the consortium.
