Electric aircraft by H55 takes off for 90 minutes
The Swiss electric aircraft startup H55 by solar pioneer André Borschberg has completed its maiden flight. Manufactured by BRM Aero and powered by the H55 propulsion system, the Bristell Energic is an all-electric aircraft with two seats for pilot training that can stay in the air for 90 minutes.

Japan forms ECLAIR consortium for electric aircrafts
Japan set up a new consortium called ECLAIR for Electrification Challenge for Aircraft – electric planes in other words. Members include the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) as well as industrial heavyweights from Mitsubishi over Kawasaki to Subaru.

Real silent paragliding with electric paramotor
French EXOMO has teamed up with Aero Composites Saintonge (which made the E-Fan demonstrator for Airbus) to electrify a so-called paramotor. Their 15 kW electric motor drives large propellor that the pilot carries on his back to power a paraglider.

Bye Aerospace’s first electric plane takes off
Bye Aerospace, or better, Hi electric flying, as the start-up’s Sun Flyer 2 has successfully managed its maiden flight. The two-seater electric plane runs on Li-ion batteries by LG Chem and is said to be capable to stay airborne for up to 3.5 hours.
