DHL’s e-van business StreetScooter selects new COO

Markus Doerr will take over the newly created position of Chief Operating Officer (COO) at DHL’s van building outlet StreetScooter on 1 July. As a new member of the management board, the former consultant will be responsible for production, purchasing and quality.

Hyundai introduces its electric double-decker bus

More passengers with the same dimensions and emission-free: Hyundai has introduced its first electrically powered double-decker bus. When and in which countries the new 70-seater will be sold has yet to be revealed. Also new from the Korean company is a system for smaller electric commercial vehicles.

DHL Express & StreetScooter present fuel cell van

At GreenTech Festival in Berlin, DHL Express and the DHL/Deutsche Post subsidiary StreetScooter just announced their cooperation in developing the ‘H2 Panel Van’. The van will be the first standard 4.25-ton electric utility van powered by hydrogen fuel cell – enabling a range of up to 500 kilometres.

Albert Heijn to use electric vans in Amsterdam

The Dutch supermarket chain Albert Heijn will supply its customers in Amsterdam with electric transporters in the future. In a first step, 25 vehicles from the existing fleet of more than 400 VW Crafters were converted by Orten to electric drives.

The London startup Siticars has introduced a small electric car for journeys in London’s new Ultra Low Emission Zone. The BEV is called Me, and also comes as a pickup and panel van. Performance is strictly down to use case with a top speed of around 80 km/h and a range of about 150 km.

DHL to build electric vans in Japan

Deutsche Post/ DHL’s EV building outlet StreetScooter is to sign a contract with Yamato, a major Japanese logistics company worth around 32 million euros. The two companies will develop a small electric van together and will bring the first 500 units into the greater Tokyo area by autumn.

460 StreetScooter considered potentially flammable

Deutsche Post/DHL classified 460 units of their StreetScooter vehicles as potentially at risk of fire and withdrew them from circulation until further notice. These electric transporters will not be put back on the road until they have been inspected.

Mercedes EQV concept – serial production launches 2019

Mercedes shows off in Geneva, and its Concept EQV is a purely electric, spacious saloon that is at home in the premium segment with up to eight seats. The production version is to be unveiled at the IAA this autumn with a 100 kWh battery for up to 400 km of range.

Ireland: An Post to deliver with 750 electric vehicles

An Post, the state-owned provider of postal services in Ireland, plans to purchase 750 electric vehicles by 2022, of which 200 will be on the roads this year. All deliveries in central Dublin are to be a 100% electric by the end of 2019 with other urban areas of Ireland to follow suit.

Nissan NV200 van to only be produced as electric van

In future, Nissan will offer its NV200 Transporter only with an electric drive. According to the manufacturer, production of the diesel version will end in the summer of this year, from where the model will continue exclusively as the e-NV200 electric version.

LEVC delays new electric van

The London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC) is postponing the launch of its planned new electric delivery van. The new vehicle should have come out at the end of 2019, but will only be “ready for the market at the beginning of the 2020s”. LEVC already published a first photo of the EV in May 2018.

StreetScooter drops VW

Volkswagen previously wanted to take over the Post subsidiary StreetScooter. Discussions began taking place at the beginning of 2017 but ultimately failed due to different price expectations. As is well known, the German Post does not aim to be a vehicle manufacturer in the long run.

StreetScooter receives order over 500 electric vans

The Deutsche Post subsidiary StreetScooter has received yet another major order for its electric vans. German startup UZE Mobility has just bought 500 of the StreetScooter models Work and Work L and initially wants to use them in German cities as car-sharing vehicles – for free.
