Norwegian customers buy significantly less cars than usual

Less than 2,000 passenger cars were newly registered in Norway in January; some 6,000 fewer than in the same month last year. This comes after Norway hit a new record in December, with 32,714 newly registered batter-electric passenger cars – by far the strongest month in 2022.

Mercedes updates the GLE-series

Toyota to manufacture hybrids and batteries in Turkey

Toyota will produce hybrid cars and batteries for them in Turkey in the future. The second-generation Toyota C-HR, which will be available as a hybrid and plug-in hybrid, will be manufactured in Sakarya. It will also be Toyota’s first European plant to be equipped with a battery production line.

GM reveals mildly hybrid Corvette E-Ray

General Motors now offers its Corvette sports car with a small e-motor, primarily designed to “enhance the driving experience” and turn the vehicle into AWD at times. However, the hybrid Corvette E-Ray will eventually be followed by a fully electric Corvette based on GM’s Ultium platform.

China has Honda recall 200,000 hybrid cars

China’s State Administration for Market Regulation will have Honda recall almost 200,000 hybrid vehicles the Japanese carmaker produced in alliance with Chinese manufacturers Dongfeng and GAC between 2018 and 2020.

GM considers taking Corvette fully electric

General Motors is reportedly planning to establish the Corvette sports car series as an electric car subsidiary and to expand the model range. According to a media report, a four-door coupé and a high-performance crossover are planned in addition to the already confirmed classic electric Corvette.

Mazda raises e-mobility targets

Mazda has raised its sales target for all-electric cars to between 25 and 40 per cent of total sales by 2030, up from 25 per cent previously. To advance the electrification of its vehicles, the Japanese carmaker plans to invest 1.5 trillion yen (10.3 billion euros) with its partners.

Ampaire’s hybrid 9-seater takes to the skies

A nine-seat regional aircraft from the Californian manufacturer Ampaire with a hybrid-electric drive system has completed its maiden flight. The Eco Caravan, based on a Cessna Grand Caravan, has a hybrid propulsion system from Ampaire with an internal combustion engine and an electric motor.

Norwegian EV sales back up from September

In Norway, 9,727 electric cars were newly registered in October, giving them a market share of 77.5 per cent of the country’s new passenger car registrations. In addition, there were 1,126 plug-in hybrids. The VW ID.4 topped the model ranking in October with 1,014 registrations.

BEVs reach 77% market share in Norway over September

A total of 11,384 electric cars were newly registered in Norway in September, giving them a market share of 77.7 per cent of new passenger car registrations in the country. In addition, there were 1,669 new plug-in hybrids. With 3,063 new registrations, the Tesla Model Y topped the list among all drive types.

China notes marked increase in EV sales over August

China’s NEV sales data shows a total of 632,000 cars sold in in August, more than in any previous month. Battery-electric vehicles continue to account for the vast majority of NEV sales in China, with 490,000 new BEVs in August compared to 142,000 PHEVs.

Audi to join Formula 1 in 2026

Audi will compete in Formula 1 from 2026. As the manufacturer has now officially announced, its own hybrid drive unit is being developed for this purpose at Audi Sport’s Motorsport Competence Centre in Neuburg an der Donau. Around half of the power is to come from the electric motor.
