Surf Air Mobility & Textron to develop hybrid Cessna

The Californian company Surf Air Mobility has signed a purchase agreement with Textron Aviation for 100 Cessna Grand Caravan EXs and secured options for 50 more. Both companies intend to develop and certify a hybrid-electric engine for the aircraft.

Audi Sport is now presenting the RS Q e-tron, the hybrid race car with which the manufacturer will compete in the Dakar Rally in January 2022. The drivetrain of the Audi RS Q e-tron is electric and comes from the current Formula E racing car Audi e-tron FE07.

Volvo & Geely found powertrain joint venture

Volvo Cars and its parent company Geely have formed a joint venture called Aurobay. The new company is to develop combustion engines, transmissions and hybrid drives. The Swedish company wants to be able to concentrate on developing premium electric cars itself.

Will the EU set CO2 reduction targets at 60% by 2030?

The EU Commission is planning stricter targets for CO2 emissions from new cars as it considers raising the current CO2 reduction target for 2030 from 37.5 to 60 per cent, while the target for 2035 is to go up to 100%. This would effectively end the sales of ICE vehicles within 14 years.

CAM study finds PHEV sales rose in Europe over Q1

An analysis by the Center of Automotive Management (CAM) found that new registrations of BEVs and PHEVs increased strongly in Europe and China in the first quarter of 2021. China remains the largest electric market, just ahead of Europe. What is striking is the enormous increase in new PHEV registrations in Europe.

Renault plans to gear up EV sales to 65% by 2025

Renault CEO Luca de Meo set new targets for the electrification of the brand in Europe at the annual general meeting. In 2025, the share of electrified passenger cars should be 65 per cent. By 2030, the goal is a share of at least 90 per.
