Volocopter closes financing round with €153 million
German electric air taxi developer Volocopter has raised €153Mn in the first signing of its Series E funding round led by South Korean investor WP Investment. Volocopter expects that the new capital will accelerate the certification of their electric passenger air cab and its launch in initial cities.
Vertical Aerospace announces 1,000 air taxi orders
The British eVTOL start-up Vertical Aerospace announces pre-orders for a total of 1,000 of its electric aerial taxis. In this context, the company also announces that it is seeking an IPO via SPAC and has received commitments from Microsoft, American Airlines, Avolon, Honeywell and Rolls-Royce.

Rimac Greyp update: Rimac presented the Greyp G12S, a further developed version of its electric super bike. When in ‘Street’ mode, its 1.5 kWh battery provides enough power to go 120 km on one charge. The bike even comes with regenerative braking technology.
Ford gets smartwatch app: Drivers of electric and hybrid Fords can soon get information about range or charging status with a flick of their wrist. They can also locate or unlock doors via the smartwatch app – much like with the app for BMW’s electric cars.
Local lithium: Tesla could get part of its needed lithium from a mine near the Gigafactory in Nevada. At least Canadian mining company Pure Energy Minerals says that it has signed a deal of that nature with the carmaker.
Honeywell to showcase developments: The developer of automotive turbochargers says it is working on several applications involving electric boosting, which it says, will play a major role in electrification. Honeywell’s electric air compressor for fuel cells, for example, increases clean air supply in smaller engines, thus improving fuel economy.
