Vulcan Energy to look for brine in Italy

Lithium producer Vulcan Energy Resources has been granted a research permit in Italy. It concerns an 11.5-square-kilometre area in Cesano near Rome, where brine samples were found in a geothermal well.

Free to X & Hubject cooperate on HPC in Italy

Hubject has announced a cooperation with Free To X, a startup of Autostrade per l’Italia Group founded in March 2021. Free To X says it will extend its HPC infrastructure along Italian highways to a large number of electric car drivers within Hubject’s Intercharge network.

Italy to ban sales of new ICEs in 2035

Italy’s government has decided to ban new passenger cars with combustion engines from 2035 in line with the EU Commission’s plans. For light commercial vehicles, this is to apply from 2040. This has now been decided by the Italian government’s Committee for the Ecological Transition (CITE).

Industria Italiana Autobus presents electric city bus

The Italian bus manufacturer Industria Italiana Autobus has presented its first fully electric city bus. The electric 12-metre bus Citymood 12e is powered by a Siemens motor with 160 kW continuous and 230 kW peak power and has a battery with NMC cells.

Eni to build 31,000 charging points by 2030

The Italian energy company Eni has announced its intention to expand its charging network for electric cars to more than 31,000 charging points in Europe by 2030. An interim target of 27,000 chargers was also mentioned for 2025.

Genoa orders e-buses from Solaris for the first time

Solaris announced it had won a tender to supply 30 e-buses to public transport operator ATM in Genoa. The coastal city wants to replace its entire fleet with electric buses by 2025. The contract value exceeds 15 million euros and continues a string of orders from Italy.

Bologna orders e-buses from VDL

In Italy, the public transport operator TPER (Emilia-Romagna Passenger Transport) has ordered seven Citea SLF-120 Electric buses from VDL Bus & Coach. These are to be deployed in the city of Bologna in 2022. Both parties also want to explore extending the order to up to 20 electric city buses.
