Hyundai & Kia announce major e-mobility investments

Hyundai and Kia plan to invest 21 trillion won (just under $17 billion) in electric car production in South Korea by 2030. The goal is to increase annual production from an estimated 350,000 units this year to 1.44 million units in 2030.

Hyundai confirms plans for EV factory in the USA

The South Korean car company Hyundai Motor is planning to build a new plant for the production of electric cars in the USA. The company has confirmed the project in principle, but has not yet named a location. But there is apparently already a favourite.

Kia presents the Niro Plus for taxi and ride-hailing services

Kia has presented the Niro Plus, an optimised version of the first generation of its Niro EV for taxi services and ride-hailing providers. Compared to the standard model, the length and height of the Niro Plus have been increased by 10 mm and 80 mm, respectively, to provide more space in the interior.

Kia EV9 confirmed for European release

Kia revealed a large electric SUV concept based on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) at the LA Auto Show in November 2021 named Concept EV9. Now the manufacturer has officially confirmed that the production version of the EV9 will also be available in Europe from 2023.

Hyundai Motor stops combustion engine development

The Korean media is reporting that Hyundai Motor Company closed its combustion engine development department in Namyang, S.Korea in December. The automotive company owns Hyundai, Kia and Genesis brands. The corporation has also apparently stopped a hydrogen car project of the Genesis brand.

At the Seoul Mobility Show, Kia presented the new generation of the Niro, which will go on sale next year as a hybrid, plug-in hybrid and battery-electric model.
