LG Chem announces new cathode plant

LG Chem will invest 475.4 billion won (about 354 million euros) in a cathode materials plant, according to the Korean Ministry of Trade. Construction of the plant with a planned annual capacity of 60,000 tonnes in the South Korean city of Gumi is to begin this month.

Li-Cycle and LG enter into recycling and nickel agreement

The Canadian battery recycler Li-Cycle has concluded a still non-binding memorandum of understanding with the South Korean chemical group LG Chem and its battery division LG Energy Solution for the supply of scrap from battery production and complete lithium-ion batteries for recycling as well as for the purchase of nickel.

Toray & LG Chem launch battery separator JV in Hungary

The chemical companies Toray Industries from Japan and LG Chem from South Korea have agreed to set up a joint venture for battery separator films in Hungary. The separator films for electric car batteries will then be purchased by LG Group in Europe and the USA.

LG Chem to invest 6 trillion won in battery business

LG Chem is aiming to invest 6 trillion won (4.4 billion euros or 5.2 billion dollars) in the expansion of its battery materials business for electric cars by 2025. LG Energy Solution to set up battery plant in Indonesia

LG aims for 110 GWh cell production in the USA by 2025

The South Korean battery cell manufacturer LG Energy Solution has announced that it will invest more than 4.5 billion US dollars (just under 3.8 billion euros) by 2025 to expand its production capacities in the USA by 70 GWh to 110 GWh. At least two new factories are planned.
