ZF electric drive axle for zero emission buses arrives in UK & US

London’s red double-decker buses will soon approach silently. Busmaker Optare has ordered the AxTrax AVE electric portal axle from ZF to equip 31 buses. Also in the States ZF announces a new chapter in their existing partnership with New Flyer as they are to equip 100 buses with ZF’s technology.

Two London councils to ban polluters

Two London borough councils are going to ban all vehicles except ultra-low emission variants in key areas during peak times to reduce air pollution. Starting on September 3rd, petrol, diesel and older hybrids will have to be careful where they drive at times.

Char.gy: New player on London lamp post charging scene

Street lights doubling as charging stations will be a sight across all of London. After Siemens and Ubitricty, Britain’s Char.gy has been named as another chosen supplier of the Go-ultra Low City Scheme. The plan is to install 1,150 lamp post chargers by 2020.

UK: Siemens & Ubitricity to deliver lamp post charging

Siemens and Berlin-based Ubitricity have been selected to help London improve EV charging infrastructure by retrofitting street lamps. They are 2 of 8 organisations in the Go-ultra Low City Scheme through which London expects to deliver 1,150 charge points by the end of 2020.

City of London charging parking fees based on emissions

The City of London Corporation that controls the centre of the British capital is introducing emissions based charges for parking in the Square Mile. Drivers of electric or hybrid vehicles will pay less as emissions are detected automatically through the RingGo app.

London Gatwick expanding electric car sharing

The UK airport has launched a car-sharing service with ten electric vehicles and charge points from Bolloré’s BlueCity, building on an earlier trial. The vehicles are part of a larger city fleet, and can be used and dropped anywhere in London.

Electric double-decker buses coming to London

A whole pack of all-electric double-decker buses is coming to London. 68 of them are to arrive in summer 2019 and will electrify entire routes. They are being made by ADL, BYD and Optare and TfL says this will grow the fleet to 240 all-electric buses.

London’s Wandsworth to install EV charging at lampposts
