Nissan & Mitsubishi present compact EV for Japan
Nissan and Mitsubishi have presented a jointly developed electric small car for the Japanese market. It is marketed by Nissan under the name ‘Sakura’ and by Mitsubishi as ‘eK X EV’ and offers a range of 180 kilometres, according to Japanese WLTP standards.

Bosch & Mitsubishi join battery swapping project in China
Bosch, Mitsubishi and Blue Park have joined forces to offer fleet operators a ‘Battery as a Service’ business model based on a battery exchange platform from Blue Park. The cooperation is initially focused on China, but is intended to be global in the long term.

Mitsubishi presents new Outlander PHEV
Mitsubishi has unveiled the new edition of its Outlander PHEV. The SUV will go on sale in Japan in December, followed by Australia and New Zealand in the first half of 2022 and North America in the second half of 2022. Sales in Europe are not planned.

Nissan joins race to reclaim mini EV segment
Nissan has announced plans to launch a new battery-electric mini-vehicle in Japan in early 2022. The small EV is part of a joint project with Mitsubishi and will have a nominal battery capacity of 20 kWh, which helps to keep the price down. However, competition at least overseas will be tough.

The tiny car trio has been recalled
The electric microcar trio formed of the Mitsubishi I-Miev, Citroën C-Zero and Peugeot Ion is exhibiting problems. PSA is calling almost 40,000 units to return to workshops worldwide, a German specialist portal reports.

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV hits UK market
Mitsubishi’s new Outlander PHEV Reflex commercial vehicle has gone on sale in the UK. The 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Reflex Commercial is also eligible for the UK government’s Plug-In Van Grant, a discount of £7,642, resulting in an on-the-road CV price of £24,298 (excluding VAT).

Indonesia backs EVs with state utility PLN
The state-owned utility company PLN has signed memorandums of understanding with 20 companies to push EV adoption in Indonesia. 13 of the companies are set to provide support with the installing charging stations, six companies will help build the vehicles and one company aims to develop their own charger.
