MPG Marathon, Tesla drifts.
Reading tip: Both the BMW i3 REx and Kia’s Soul EV took part in the MPG Marathon in the UK. The i3 went 408 miles using 3l of petrol, equivalent to 105.6kWh or 3p per mile. The Kia Soul EV completed the course in 370 miles and used 139kWh of electricity the equivalent of 5p per mile.
Video tip: The Tesla Model S shows its sporty and daring side in front of a Japanese crowd as it drifts around a tight course burning loads of rubber in its wake.
MPG Marathon, Red Bull, Events.
Racing tip: For the first time, the MPG Marathon in the picturesque Cotswolds, UK, will let EVs and plug-in hybrids compete along the petrol-powered cars and vans in October. Cost will be measured with 13 pence per kilowatt hour. May the most efficient vehicle win!
Click tip: The Red Bull racing team went all-electric last weekend at Spa. Not really, though, as it were only mechanics practising pitstops with an electric racer. Still, a start…
